Dolphins interview Buccaneers executive Dennis Hickey for general manager job

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may be losing their director of player personnel.

The Miami Dolphins are doing something odd: they're interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel Dennis Hickey for their general manager position, according to Jason La Canfora. Dennis Hickey has been with the Buccaneers for 18 years in a variety of roles, and was Mark Dominik's right-hand man for the past five seasons -- until Dominik at the end of last season.

The Bucs are holding their own general manager search, but according to La Canfora Hickey has not been a part of that search. Hickey has been running Tampa Bay's personnel department in the absence of a general manager. After all: the show must go on.

It's a little odd that Hickey is still part of the front office given his close ties to the now-fired Dominik, but the Bucs really do need someone to run the department for now. If Hickey were to leave for the Dolphins that may create some short-term issues for the Bucs as they search for a new general manager themselves.
