After tallying the votes, the 2013 Bucs Nation Game of the Year was the Bucs' week 12 victory over the Detroit Lions.
Coming into the Motor City, the Bucs had failed to win a game on the road. They had previously won their last 2 home games against Atlanta and Miami, and had played well at Seattle for most of the game before succumbing in overtime. Many hyped up the Megatron vs. Revis Bay match up, and wondered would the Bucs O-Line be able to withstand the likes of Suh, Ansah and Fairley. At the end of the day, this game would be a headshaker AND headscratcher.
What DIDN'T this game have? We saw Bobby Rainey do NOTHING on the ground, yet Tiquan Underwood have his best game as a pro, catching two touchdowns, including an 85 yard bomb on a PERFECT throw from Mike Glennon. The much anticipated match up between Revis and Johnson was vanilla, as Revis ended up getting hurt later in the game. Matt Stafford threw all over the field, passing for two TDs, but yet looked worse than Joey Harrington ever did, throwing gimmie interceptions to Lavonte David and Keith Tandy and Leonard Johnson, who promptly ran his back for a touchdown (complete with an extra flip).
The Bucs still had to hold on and maintain (something they had not done all year long) and had to do it without Revis as mentioned before. Somehow, Someway, the light shined on our team, as Stafford completed a pass to Johnson, who was hit by "Mr. Unknown" Kelcie McCray, which allowed Johnthan Banks to pick it off and seal our first road win of the season. The fact that this was our ONLY road win of the season makes it even more bizarre, but yet it was a fun, yet stressful, back and forth affair, but fittingly was the right kind of game for a weird and insane season for Tampa Bay.
