I'm going to try and bring a silver-lined platter of loses and spin it the best I can. A huge amount of Buc fan are distraught right now. We've dropped the win to a bad team and fairly sharp team. Both times we had the win but the sands of victory fell through our callused fingers. And while losing to the lowly Jets and a formidable division opponent stings mightily, their is a glimmer here.
Nobody is talking about a defense that IS NOT getting thrown on. The bleeding has ended and the Bucs are no longer getting embarassed by every passing offense in the league. Revis and company is red hot compared to where we were last season. The only legitimate threat facing our defense is penalties.
We can't sit here and act like we didn't know our safeties were going to be gooines, because we did. BUT, we can't knock heads this early, thats clearly post-season practices. We haven't earned the prestige yet to flex. So Goldson, Barron and even Black need to bring wood on legal chest shots, belly shots. Otherwise, oblique head shots will be counter intuitive and we will lose ground, 15 yards a time.
But I must add, our linebackers have looked outstanding at times, and for the first time in many seasons, they are looking competent and brilliant as I've seen since our Glory Days. While one could dog David for a costly penalty, he has brushed that aside and last Sunday's play didn't carry a hint of hesitance. Foster too is looking like a stud. For what Foster's expectation was when he first came to camp, he has already outplayed what people thought when we was fighting for that middle linebacker spot with other unknowns.
And to see the guy's faces after the loss to Saints, you could see they really put their hearts into it. And thats a good sign, that they're bought in together and jellying. For being 0-2 we couldn't be more bright.
