Added this FanPost to the front page. Excellent question!
After watching the TV specials and the Hall of Fame with Warren Sapp, I couldn't help but swell up with pride that he was going in as a Buccaneer. But watching his highlights and seeing him donning that Raiders jersey I was pissed that he ended his career in Oakland. I understand the business of the game and most players go where the money is but it still made me angry. Rarely does one player start and finish his career with the same team, a la Ronde Barber, but which former Buccaneer player do you wish could have finished his career in Tampa?
My answer has to be my favorite player John Lynch. Sapp called him "that hard hitting white boy." Every one in the league knew that he would knock your head off if you came anywhere near him. I remember John Lynch's brother-in-law played in the NFL and Lynch knocked him out in a game. I wish he never left and I remember hearing a rumor that he told his agent he would take less money to stay in Tampa but for whatever reason that didn't happen and he finished his career in Denver.
Another huge reason, which is more of a personal story, is growing up my family would go to church on Sundays before the game and every once in a while John Lynch and his family would show up. I thought it was so cool to see him before the home games. Also the priest who conducted the 11 o'clock mass before the 1 o'clock game was a huge Bucs fan. HUGE. I grew up Catholic so if you don't know about Catholic masses, they usually run about an hour long. Not with this priest, if he saw John Lynch in the crowd we would be out of church in less than 40 minutes so we could all watch the games. I think my friend said he once finished mass in 25 minutes. And he would also end mass with Go Bucs and a prayer.
So who do you wish never left the Bucs?
