Once again Eric Wright continues to "screw" the Bucs over. I posted a previous article about Wright and how it was a good move. But Dominik does him a favor and trades him to the 49ers to give him another opportunity, but he fails his physical and the Buccaneers don't get anything in return. I don't care if it was a 6/7/8... its something. Wright was a total bust period.
It hurts the Bucs on the field no doubt but from a front office perspective its a good move. He is not a player you want in the locker room. I'm extremely disappointed because he is a decent corner who would've helped this team. HE is not the best corner out there but with the Bucs depth he is certainly serviceable. This puts a lot of pressure on Banks who is a rookie! Banks who got the Jim Thorpe award award at MSU has the tools to succeed. Even Revis who is coming off knee surgery has additional pressure with this lack of depth. Everybody thinks if we have Revis we are set... not necessarily. It's a team effort on defense.
The Bucs had a plan with Wright and he did everything to screw it up. This year he was in the best possible scenario to succeed especially in the slot. This also takes veteran out of the locker room and more pressure on these rookies. WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR CANNOT HAPPEN AGAIN!
Wright is a traitor and I'm glad he's is gone from both on field (66th best corner in NFL) and from a front office perspective (Drug, DUI, and Poor attitude). Who knows what this means to the Buccaneers but Wright is gone and Bucs get nothing in return because he fails a physical.
