So here we are another season about to begin and the predictions are going to start flying. Well as you know from last year’s mildly popular Nostradamus effect I am going to do it again this year. So we start in the NFC East home of the Cowboys, Eagles, Giants
. So without further adieu let’s get started:
Oh America’s team the Dallas Cowboys
are much like our team in that it’s been a while since we made the playoffs and won, the fans are screaming for results. Dallas though has had a competitive team during our “rebuilding” years. Last year I predicted that Tony Romo
would lose his starting job to Kyle Orton
, well we all know how that played out in an epically hilarious Jerry Jones fashion of giving their QB a HUGE payday. They have done a lot to bolster the weak secondary to accompany a productive offense (sound familiar?) but I really feel like Dallas had a week draft this year. Travis Fredrick could have been had much later in the draft but they took him WAY too early. I’m not too impressed with Joseph Randle
in comparison to who else was available at the time. And J.J. Wilcox
doesn’t seem to be a system fit type guy. Now keep in mind that the Cowboys now have Tampa 2 Guru Monte Kiffin on staff to call the defense and while I do love the guy I thought that Rob Ryan did a good job and didn’t deserve to be canned if anything I felt that Jason Garret should have gotten the axe. But I think he will after the Cowboys put up another mediocre year.
The “Dream Team” Philadelphia Eagles
, this team literally does have a lot of talented players on roster but they couldn’t seem to get it together under Andy Reid. It seemed like Reid lost his passion for the team/game years ago and was due for a change. Last year I predicted that he would lose his job which isn’t saying much as most people thought he would. They brought one hour Buccaneers
head coach Chip Kelly. I think it was a much needed change but I can’t see a clear direction in their draft choices and I think they drafted poorly too. Now since it’s hard to say what Kelly has in mind for the team it’s really tough to say with certainty that the draft was bad as it may fit something I can’t see. But from what I know of Kelly and his style of play/coaching I don’t see a good draft. I see this team fighting to not be bottom of the division again.
Recent Super Bowl
champions New York Giants seem to have fallen from grace. They lost out on the playoffs and lost the division to rival redskins. Last year I predicted they would win the division and we know how that worked out. It’s sad to see that championship teams fall apart so quickly. Now while we as Bucs fans would be content with a 9-7 season it’s the fashion in which they missed the playoffs that’s sad. This team just seemed like it gave up and fell apart. I predict though that this team will step up and will win the division this year only to lose early in the playoffs since they also had a weak draft but realistically this entire division drafted weak.
Ok so you already know I am not predicting the Redskins to win the division but I still have something to say about them. I liked what they did last offseason to compete, they drafted according to need and seemed to have direction but now this year I can’t see what Bruce Allen was thinking with this draft and as Bucs fans we know that all too well. I think this team will take a big step back and could see another year where RG3 is injured and while I don’t wish that upon anyone it’s a fairly well known fact that Shanahan is a QB killer which is probably why he drafted 2 last year. But on the other hand I predict that Cousin will make a huge impact and cause a QB debate in Washington.
