Ronde Barber was number 55 on the NFL Top 100

USA TODAY Sports

Ronde Barber retired, depriving everyone of a final look at his career through the eyes of his peers.

Ronde Barber missed out on one final accolade: he would have made NFL Network's NFL Top 100 list, had he stuck around for a few more weeks. He was slated to come in at number 55 in his first (and last) year at free safety, but was taken off the list because he retired. Barber looked rejuvenated at free safety last season and nearly made the Pro Bowl after being the fans' most popular selection at free safety.

Barber didn't need more awards, of course, but he did get yet another one yesterday: he received the key to the City of Tampa at yesterday's Sneaker Soiree by mayor Bob Buckhorn. Ronde Barber's 200th start at cornerback was named the top sports moment of the past year.

Still, it feels a little off that Barber has voted on to the Top 100 but has nothing to show for it. So NFL Network, could you do me a favor? Could you release the video you made for Ronde Barber?

Update: I just heard that NFL Network will show that video during their Halftime Show on Monday. I'm not sure whether that's a part of their regular scheduling (probably part of their Total Access Show). Someone e-mailed me and given some personal details, it seems likely he's telling the truth.
