Buccaneers roster moves: Drake Dunsmore...retires?

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

A second-year tight end says goodbye to the NFL.

Sometimes, people just tire of football. It seems that's what happened with tight end Drake Dunsmore, who retired today after spending one season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' practice squad. He was the team's last seventh-round pick in 2012, coming almost at the very end of the 2013 NFL draft. Apparently the grind of the NFL did not appeal to him anymore, or perhaps he was dealing with an undisclosed injury/

With Dunsmore retiring along with Nate Kaeding and the Buccaneers releasing Derek Hardman, James Rogers and Corvey Irvin the Buccaneers now have one open roster spot by my count. They have to work with a 90-man roster limit during the offseason, which includes unsigned draft picks but not players brought in for tryouts.

The Buccaneers will hold their rookie minicamp this weekend, when they're expected to bring in a number of tryout players as well as, obviously, all rookies.
