I have been thinking....
And I have been hearing that the Bucs want to trade back. They also want to trade with the Jets for Revis. Can the two of these be connected?
Let's look at trading back first. If Star or any of the top OL are available or if a team falls in love with a QB, there will be teams that want to trade up. Some partners include SF, MIN, CIN, and STL. Each of these teams have multiple 1s or 2s and are in the later part of the round.
SF could want Star. Look at how their defense looked when Justin Smith went out. They need a solid 3-4 DE that can eat up blockers but still get penetration. They have the extra 2 from KC. We would most likely get either their 1st (#31) and the #34 for our #13.
MIN could want any of the OL or Star. Their OL sucks, but none would be available by #23. They could trade #23 and #52 for our #13.
CIN could want Star, Vaccaro, or an OL. With Andre Smith possibly not coming back, any of the OL could be a target. They could also want Vaccaro or Star, but neither will be their at #21. They could trade #21 and #53 for out #13.
STL could want Vaccarro or an OL also. They are thin at safety and OL. If we receive their #22 and #46 for out #13 and extra 6th or 5th.
Now if the Bucs have the extra 2nd from any of these trades, they could be more likely to trade it to the Jets for Revis along with our 3rd and sixth (as reported). Also, with the extra 2nd, we could conceivably trade back into the 1st round (because Dom likes the 5yr contracts) and get Eifert and still get a CB with our extra 2nd. We could also sit tight and get a solid CB and DT/DE or TE.
Because in my opinion, we will be set at CB if we get Revis, resign Barber, keep Wright (restructure or not) and draft a CB in the 2nd. Additionally, Leonard Johnson and Gorrer(sp?) will be good for depth and could develop enough to replace Barber/Wright in 2014.
