And we're down another cornerback: Mike Jenkins will sign with the Oakland Raiders, according to ESPN. For some reason beyond my understanding, a lot of Buccaneers fans are slightly infatuated with Mike Jenkins. Never mind that Jenkins hasn't actually been good at any point during his NFL career, notwithstanding a Pro Bowl selection back in 2009. The 2008 first-round pick and former USF Bull simply hasn't played good football.
But at this point in the season, losing out on any cornerback appears to be reason enough to panic for Bucs fans. What if the Darrelle Revis trade doesn't get done? Well then, the Bucs will probably sign a veteran or two (players like Charles Woodson, Antoine Winfield and Sheldon Brown are still available -- not to mention Ronde Barber), draft a few cornerbacks and hang on to Eric Wright. A combination of those players would make for an adequate cornerback group, and losing out on a replacement level player like Mike Jenkins is hardly reason to abandon hope.
