Every time a notable player is cut, someone posts a FanPost asking whether we should sign them. (Eric Winston, Stanford Routt etc.) However, what differs in this one is the fact that this player is not a big name player.
Aside from Ronde Barber, and he only knows whether he's coming back, the Bucs have a really young defense, with the only Gary Gibson and Ronde Barber being over the age of 30, I believe we need a veteran presence. Now, while our defense is set at all positions, aside from Corner, we probably aren't looking for any starters.
However, Brendon Ayanbadejo was released by the Ravens today (yesterday, for you Americans), where had made his third pro bowl, as a Special Teamer. Sure, he's old. I get that, however, does his age really effect his purpose? To me, his purpose would be simply a special teamer, and 4th linebacker, who can step in at any position, assuming we have an injury in our Linebacking core, in addition to a veteran presence in the locker room, who is highly respected, whether by homophobic players, or by equal rights players, due to his pro-homosexual activism. I believe, due to his fantastic demeanour, on and off the field, he would make a huge impact, as a mentor and a veteran, on the Bucs players for one or two years.
Chances are you're reading this thinking "why bring in a 36-year-old linebacker?", but remember; Sabby Piscitelli made the 53 man squad, so the 53rd man isn't exactly the biggest asset.
