Updated 3 round Tampa Bay Mock Draft.

Earlier this year I did a full mock for Tampa Bay. That was before all the FA signings and added competition the Bucs have added to their team over the past 2 months. So without further ado, here is an updated 3 round mock draft.

1st round, pick #13: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame.

Yes, this is not a Corner Back. Explanation? At 13, no CB can really convince Tampa that they are worth the pick, and with such a deep class Tampa feels they can find a corner in round 2. So instead, they get a play maker in the only position on Offense that is void of one, TE. Clark is gone and the starting spot is left to Stocker and Crabtree. Not good. In Eifert, Tampa gets the most dynamic TE in this years class. He won't wow anyone with his blocking ability, but he will create headaches for Defensive Coordinators that already have to contend with a deep receiving core and one of the best running backs in football. Eifert also gives Freeman a reliable option on 3rd down and over the middle. Freeman is in a contract year and Tampa wants him to succeed, so the most logical option is to give him more toys.

2nd round, pick #43: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington

There it is. Finally Tampa gets a corner. Plenty of guys could be here that make since for Tampa, but Trufant may be the best available at this pick. Though his tackling leaves a bit to be desired, his talent is undeniable. Trufant excelled in press coverage in college, which will help him immediately in this defense. Has great size for the position, as well as above average speed. Trufant could start if Tampa doesn't pull Revis or keep Wright.

3rd round, pick #73: Chase Thomas, OLB, Stanford.

Yes, Tampa could double up on corner here, but for argument sake I'll take Thomas. Thomas is a little lean for his position, but does great work with his hands, rarely letting lineman get inside on him. Thomas doesn't have elite speed, but does has enough to keep up with the competition. Thomas may be best suited as a stand up rusher, and since Tampa showed a propensity for blitzing, he could fit well as a rush specialist. Also would make for an excellent special teamer at the least.
