Darrelle Revis traded to Buccaneers for first- and fourth-round picks, six-year contract has no guarantees

The trade is official, and the terms of the deal are in.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded for Darrelle Revis, and the trade terms are out. According Adam Schefter, the Buccaneers will give up their 2013 first-round pick and a conditional 2014 fourth-round pick that could turn into a third-rounder. The Jets have announced that the fourth-round pick will become a third-round pick if Revis is on the Bucs' roster on the third day of the 2014 league year, which means the condition is just injury protection.

The most shocking news may come on the contract front, though, as Darrelle Revis will be the highest paid defensive back in NFL history on a six-year deal -- but he will receive NO guaranteed money. That, again, according to Adam Schefter. His six-year deal will be for $96 million with Revis receiving $16 million per year. With no guaranteed money in the deal, though, the risk for the Bucs is minimal and they are protected in case Revis' knee injury turns out to be worse than it really is.

This contract gives Revis one of the two richest deals for a defensive player in the NFL, only eclipsed by Mario Williams' deal, which contained $50 million in guaranteed money. According to Pro Football Talk it is worth $16 million in each year, and has a "pay-as-you-go" structure, which means the cap and cash hits will be $16 million in each year, too. According to the New York Daily News, Darrelle Revis has a $13 million base salary, a $1.5 million roster bonus and a $1.5 million workout bonus in each season.

With no guarantees and just two draft picks involved, this deal looks pretty good. The Bucs would not have been able to find a player of Revis' caliber with their 2013 first-round pick, nor was a cornerback like Revis available in free agency.
