The New York Jets have put the trade talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the cornerback undergoes medical examinations today, according to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio. The Jets will evaluate Revis knee and then decide on the "right thing to do", which should still basically be trading him seeing as how that's what they've been trying to do for months now.
That 'pause' seems a little meaningless, though, given the simple fact that nothing has actually happened in the Revis trade. And this medical examination really won't affect the price of the cornerback given the fact that any trade compensation would be contingent on Revis passing medicals anyway. There's one scenario in which Revis' trade value plummets, and that's if the medical examination comes back with some disastrous result.
That doesn't appear to be the case. According to Tommy Orr of the Star-Ledger and USA Today's Mike Garafolo, Revis' checkup with his knee surgeon was "all good", and he was cleared to run without restriction per Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.
Revis will now meet with the Jets and the Jets' medical team as their offseason program gets under way. Presumably the player and team will discuss his future, give him some more medical exams -- and then the trade talks re-start.
