According to Gil Arcia of The Bay Cave, Eric Wright's grievance was denied. Wright was fighting the voiding of his $7.75 million in salary this season as a result of a PED suspension last year. The Buccaneers have long been rumored to be interested in releasing Wright, whose cap hit is much larger than his play warrants. With multiple small injuries, a four-game PED suspension and missing most of the offseason, Wright's stay in Tampa was filled with problems.

Still, Wright is by far the best cornerback on the roster and releasing him would make the Buccaneers worse, for now. The Buccaneers are likely to add several cornerbacks this offseason, though, with Darrelle Revis and Brent Grimes having been linked to the Buccaneers repeatedly.

If Wright is released, the Buccaneers will have around $31 million in cap space, perhaps more depending on the structure of several recent contracts. The Bucs may also keep Wright at a reduced price, although the relationship between the player and team can't be in good shape at this point.
