According to Jenna Laine, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are focused on re-signing cornerback E.J. Biggers. He reportedly has offers from two other teams, which means a bit of competition. Biggers has been lambasted by fans for years on end, but he may have been the team's best cornerback last season. When the entire secondary got shredded game after game, Biggers came out looking relatively clean despite having to return from a muscle injury and missing three games. In the end he started 12 games for the Bucs last season.
Biggers is lacking in a lot of areas, though. His hands are fairly poor, having just 3 interceptions over 45 games. He's a poor tackler, though not really because of a lack of effort, and he's not the most physical player. He has some qualities, too: he's generally in position, more or less, and he doesn't give up even when he's getting beat play after play. He's not horrible, he's just not a starting caliber cornerback -- unless he has continued to improve since last season. He'd be best used as a third or fourth cornerback who won't be asked to do too much, but he'd be quality depth on any team.
On a related note, Biggers' full name is Edjaun Cinclair Biggers. I did not know that. I find that fascinating.
