We have one final mock draft from Dan Kadar over at Mocking the Draft before free agency starts, and he has the Buccaneers selecting cornerback Xavier Rhodes out of Florida State.
The best drafting philosophy is to take a combination of best player available that fits a need. That would be the case with Rhodes here. This is another pick that could be extremely fluid with Tampa being associated with Derek Cox and other free agent cornerbacks.
Other possibilities: Tyler Eifert, Kenny Vaccaro
This makes perfect sense -- right now. Rhodes is big, is physical, excels in press man coverage and is a good run defender. He is what the Buccaneers want at cornerback -- but they may not even have a need at cornerback the way the free agency rumor mill is spinning. Here's a good question, though: would you rather have Xavier Rhodes and Martellus Bennett, or Derek Cox and Tyler Eifert? Those are the kinds of evaluations we should be making right now.
