While I do not think there are very many elite players in this draft I do think it is very deep, so we should try to trade back in the first round and pick up more quality draft picks. If we do end up picking at #13 Xavier Rhodes is the best pick, given that all other high valued prospects are gone before then. He showed off his athleticism at the combine and while he might not be an instant success, I believe he has the tools to develop into a top corner.
Some people might not think Freeman is the answer for us at QB but I believe in him, he simply has too much potential. This past offseason we gave him two new offensive weapons with Vincent Jackson and Doug Martin, however I think Freeman would greatly benefit from a talent tight end. We need to target a tight end within the first two rounds of the draft. Two prospects that I think make sense are Tyler Eifert out of Notre Dame, or Travis Kelce out of Cincinnati. Tyler Eifert is by far the top TE prospect in the draft so if we wanted him we would probably have to trade back into the end of the first round, like we did last year to select Doug Martin. Kelce is the best blocking tight end in the draft which would fit our offense perfectly, and we could probably get him at the end of the second round. He didn't participate at the combine so his pro day will play a large part in his evaluation.
Next is a list of other prospects that I think would improve our team. I am going to list their position and the round I think they will go in.
- Jonathan Banks (CB) round: late 1st or 2nd
- Desmond Trufant (CB) round: late 1st or 2nd
- Tyrann Mathieu (CB) round: 4th
- Sio Moore (LB) round: 3rd
- William Gholston (DE) round: 3rd
- Montee Ball (RB) round: 2nd or 3rd
- Le'Veon Bell (RB) round: 4th
