That's the most recent quote given at the combine by head coach Greg Schiano. In a story written by NFL.com, they talked to our head coach to get his opinion on Josh Freeman. It's obvious that he is committed to Josh and it is likely that Josh will be around longer than some would like. If I assume correctly that Schiano's goal is to win the Super Bowl, then I believe this is a sign that Josh will be re-signed after next season as long as he doesn't regress significantly.
He still emphasized competition as a key factor in the success of the team, but that competition will be throughout the entire organization, not just the quarterback position. I am sure that is the reason we have so many coaches on our staff. He wants the coaches to bring their best effort as well or they will be replaced.
Coach Schiano's quote shows that he feels much better about Josh Freeman after reviewing the film and situations than he did at the end of the season when he gave him a less than stellar review. Maybe it is possible that many times Josh Freeman's "missteps" were not of his own doing or are much easier to fix than replacing him with someone new. We do not know what Schiano does, but this has to be a confidence booster for Josh Freeman.
