With the closing weeks among us Tampa Bay looks to finish the year with momentum for next year, as Tampa Bay entered an unexpected rebuilding year. Before the season the Bucs were listed as contenders, but did not live up to the hype. Starting off the year with the Freeman carousel, the MRSA infections, and a little thing called zero wins and eight losses, it seemed head coach Greg Schiano was hated, despised as he reports constantly were coming out that he had lost the locker room after he handled the Freeman situation so poorly. Schiano was also rumored to have called the Bucs the laughing stock of the league, saying it was a circus. Many players seemed frustrated with the start, and with coaches the decision making. All things pointed to a Bucs coaching change, fire Schiano whenever we could, but then a win happened. Now one win was not enough against a lowly Dolphins team, but then a dominating effort against the Falcons and a win IN Detroit, all of a sudden Tampa Bay has new life. Losing to a great Panthers team then bouncing back to dominate again the team looks completely different. Something that seemed so certain now hangs in the air, Do we want Schiano? Some say yes and some say no.
Schiano could have saved his job doing this well the last five weeks, showing what our offense, and defense are capable of. Explosiveness has been there in the last few games a key element the offense did not have in the opening weeks, big back ups have stepped up, the defense has stepped up, the team just looks "new". Maybe something good as the team just seemed so boring this year bland, predictable never anything new. Now they are playing with reckless abandonment, onside kicks, trick plays everything that could work. It's a refreshing sight to see. If Schiano wins these last few games down this tough stretch his job could certainly be saved.
Schiano could have also lost his job with so much failure this year. Showing how much of a circus a coach can make a team. First off, he handled the Freeman situation horribly, sure he wasn't our starting quarterback anymore, did he have to basically ban him from the team? Schiano looked like a little kid showing he can get what he wants. Then the MRSA situation just made our team look ridiculous, especially combined with the 0-8 start. Rumors were leaked that coach had officially lost the teams respect and was basically done coaching for the Bucs. After barely winning against a lackluster Dolphins team and dominating two awful teams people think Schiano is a genius. Well he's not. Schiano has won the games we should have been winning this whole time.
I think Schiano is going to be back, but do you?
