Sorry Sander I couldn't wait to take this one through the normal editorial channels it has to come out raw and unedited. However, today, during an interview with Joe Buc's Fan Bill Sheridan jokingly derided Tampa Fans as "Chirping". The implication is the kind of troubling head in the sand attitude that we have come to expect from this current Buc’s coaching staff and here is exactly what Bill Sheridan said (per Mike Florio):
"What I want to invite them to do is to join us about — I get here about 5:20 [a.m.] every single morning," Sheridan said Thursday, via JoeBucsFan.com. "And they’re more than welcome to hang around until about 11 [p.m.] for the first four nights of the week, and they can help us put the whole game plan together.
"We got all the free Cokes you want in the building. And we’ll be happy to take their suggestions on how we could better use Darrelle. Trust me when I tell you we painstakingly game plan how to best use all our personnel. Not just Darrelle. But I appreciate the chirping."
WELL ALLOW ME TO RETORT : BILL STOP BEING A NAMBY PAMBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sheridan’s implication here is that he works hard so we should all shut up. To that I say good for you, you work hard, that’s what the Glazer’s pay you for. You have a six figure salary trust me – it goes with the territory – I don’t feel sorry for you. The fans are your customer base, not your boss, but your customer base, insulting them when your 0-5 is the kind of holier than though attitude we’ve come to expect from this miserable coaching staff. It’s how you have Football Outsiders calling you one of the most talented 0-5 teams EVER, its how you have multiple false starts, too many men in the huddle, poor execution, personal fouls, miscommunication on a Jimmy Graham TD, and given up multiple game winning drives, oh and did I mentioned were 0-5; yet even after all this your boss had the gall to call the team "well coached" even in the face of overwhelming evidence. You are not the only one with a challenging customer base Bill, I’ve worked with plenty of challenging customers with high demands under real world situations where we were prosecuting the global war on terror. Sometimes they needed products "yesterday" and didn’t care if I hadn’t slept in 24 hours, you know what, it goes with the territory. Suck it up you Namby Pamby, I’ll give you the same advice Warren Sapp gave Alex Smith when the 49ers tried to sign Peyton Manning: DON’T CRY ABOUT IT, IF YOU DON’T LIKE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW YOU DO YOUR JOB DO IT BETTER.
I’ll go on, working hard is not limited to guys / women with higher salaries my girlfriend is a waitress and busts her butt every night she works. She works in Thai/Lao restaurant and sometimes customers despite the 5 well marked chilli peppers next to an item on the menu will order it and send it back because it is too hot for them to eat. She LOVES the hot stuff but she doesn't start mocking them for not being able to handle it or yell at them for complaining if she happens to be working a double shift(happens often). My younger brother is a dialysis tech(it doesn't pay well) in Tampa last week he worked 93 hours; patients are often high maintenance, he doesn't take his frustrations out on them. Tons of people work hard and I have the utmost respect for every working man and woman in this country who busts their butt to provide for their family and deals with challenging customers or bosses with a smile. They are the backbone of America working hard with a smile on their face and keeping their complaints to their spouses, family, or bartender – when they get home. Bill should take a lesson from the hard working folks in Tampa who deal with challenging customers and conduct himself like a professional.
Free Coca-Cola, I say stick it. That sounds like Marie Antoinette trying to ply the surfs in Feudal France by saying "let them eat cake". As if he’s throwing a bone to a lonely dog or perhaps Oliver Twist begging with sullen eyes saying "Please sir may I have some more?" If only us simpletons would understand just how brilliant of a job you and Schiano have done maybe we’d be as subservient and grateful as us miserable wretches deserve to be for your outstanding leadership. Also Bill, I don’t drink Coca-Cola at 5 am, I drink coffee, you wouldn't like me if I don’t have my coffee. My beloved dog doesn't even like me when I haven’t had my coffee. Plus I can buy my own Coffee! Maybe if you spent a little more time being introspective about whats worked and what hasn't and what you can do better; maybe if you worried a little less about the free condiments and soda cans you wouldn't be 0-5, maybe you wouldn't be working your 4th Job in 4 Seasons, maybe that chirping isn't really the fans but the sound of your career warning light going off.
