Michael Vick 'definitely' out against Buccaneers for Eagles with hamstring injury

J. Meric

A hamstring injury will "definitely" keep Michael Vick out against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

According to ESPN's Phil Sheridan, Michael Vick is "definitely not playing" against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury. Vick practiced fully on Sunday and is listed as questionable, but Sheridan's source says that status is irrelevant.

That may be a minor break for the Bucs, who could use one after losing Carl Nicks and Johnthan Banks to MRSA this week. There's still a chance Banks plays against the Eagles, but that chance seems slim.

If Vick can't go, Nick Foles will get the start. The second-year quarterback picked up his only win of his career against the Buccaneers last year, despite getting sacked six times. He led a last-second touchdown drive to grab the win after being moderately productive throughout the game.

The Tampa Bay defense was arguably the worst pass defense in the NFL last year, though, and it is one of the best defenses in the league this year. If the Bucs can limit Foles' passing, they should have a good chance against the pocket quarterback. While Chip Kelly has noted that he wouldn't change his offense, Foles isn't exactly a good read-option quarterback.
