The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a chance to get another postseason award.
The last time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted a running back in the first round, he won two Rookie of the Year awards in his first season, before falling off a cliff and succumbing to injuries for the rest of his career. Let us hope this won't happen to Doug Martin, who has been nominated for the 2012 NFL Rookie of the Year award. This vote is based on fan votes, and Martin will need a lot of them to win. You can vote right here!
Doug Martin has been absolutely amazing, and looks to be a crucial part of the offense going forward. You know, as long as he doesn't tear a patellar tendon. Twice. Unfortunately for him, he's up against four players whom he won't beat: Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Alfred Morris. Three playoff quarterbacks and a running back who rushed for more yards than he did. Yeah. Tough luck there, Muscle Hamster.
Still, the Buccaneers have seemingly gotten a lot of recognition this year. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come.
