I mean we have all pretty much complained about the Bucs management not spending money in FA. Then alot of people complained about missing out on the key players at cornerback such as Johnathan Joseph, Cortland Finnergan, and Brandon Carr. Instead we ended up with Eric Wright. Now we have a chance at landing Revis via trade. And some are down for the idea to trade to get him. Some are not. Last time I checked he has been the best cornerback in the league for a while. Last year he was still until he got hurt. Now I worry how he will comeback after his injury but I think he will be fine. Lots of people would like Grimes in FA this year despite having two separate season ending injuries. Also people say that he isnt worth the asking price of whatever draft picks the Jets are asking for. I doubt it. If you have a chance to get a TRUE SHUTDOWN in his prime even off of an injury I would give up the picks. This would be the guy that would immediate make our defense elite.
Now comes the most hilarious part.. the money. Well hes the best at his position right? So why would we expect him to not get paid like one? And if 16 million is the price to keep him here can we really afford it? Yes! Will we be able to do it and still be able to be financially stable? I think so. We are rolling over money from last year and will have more money come off with Black being cut and Wright too and others who wont be back. Even with resigning Bennett we should be able to still get Revis and still be comfortable with our cap. I dont know the full numbers so comments about that will be welcome. But I'm saying why not pull the trigger on this deal if we can? Because we are still rebuilding? Because we need to save our cap money even more? For what? If we want to win we need to make a strong play in FA first then add in this year draft with additional pieces.
I have a feeling Dom is going to make an aggressive move in FA as it has been suggested with the restructuring of the contracts of Jackson and Nicks.
What do you all think?
