The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins fought a close game, but the Bucs couldn't come up with the win. In an up-and-down game, many things went right, but a few more things went wrong to give Washington the game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers managed a heroic comeback - and then gave it all away again. Digging a 21-3 hole, they turned that around and took the lead with under two minutes remaining. But some 55 yards later, Billy Cundiff lined up for his fourth field goal try of the game. He had missed his previous three attempts, so Bucs fans were hopeful that he'd miss this one.
In the end, though, the Bucs lost. This is what that loss looked like:

The Bucs have cut the Redskins lead to just two points, as they've just scored another touchdown, run in by Legarrette Blount. It's now on the defense to hold up, and get the ball back, while the offense needs to get it going again. Well, the offense sure got it going on the last two drives, hitting numerous deep passes. Vincent Jackson got in on the fun with a 54-yarder, and then added a 22-yarder to set up Legarrette Blount's 2-yard touchdown run.

Good Freeman shows up once again. Steps up, throws it deep - and it's an easy completion. That Freeman can be the quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers all day long. First half Josh Freeman - not so much. As Freeman gets more comfortable in this offense, we should see more of good Freeman and less of bad Freeman.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are attempting a comeback, and they've managed to cut the Redskins' lead to one score. It's now 21-13, and here's how it happened. First, Josh Freeman found one of his receivers deep down the field as Mike Williams ran away from the defense.
That's the Josh Freeman we're all waiting to see, but don't see nearly enough - too often it's indecisive, inaccurate, bad Freeman. He knows where he's going, drops back, and immediately throws it. Easy delivery, easy catch, easy run.

He followed that up with a quick strike to Vincent Jackson for the touchdown, putting the Bucs back in one-score territory. This is the other aspect of good Freeman: powerful arm, squeezing it in between defenders, and Vincent Jackson does what he does: catch balls for touchdown.

One Billy Cundiff missed field goal later, and the Bucs have the ball and are fixing to score again. Go Bucs!

The Bucs are still down 21-6, but they now have Lavonte David back on the field after having his wrist wrapped up. Meanwhile, Eric Wright is out for the game with a head injury - which likely indicates a concussion. And that could mean a lot more missed games.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting crushed, and to make matters worse, they're now losing key players to injuries. Rookie linebacker has been very important to this team's defense, yet is now on the sideline getting his hand looked at. He was hit by some friendly fire from Mark Barron.
Meanwhile, cornerback Eric Wright got a knee to the helmet from a teammate on the very next play, and walked off the field under his own power, and then headed to the locker room. . It's not clear whether either player will return to the game.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one good play on offense in their last drive: a fake snap, with D.J. Ware running around the end to get the Bucs a first down. That led to a 57-yard field goal by Connor Barth, who has apparently forgotten that people can miss field goals, too. That makes it 21-6, Redskins. Yeah, totally according to plan.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting the tar beat out of them, and even their run defense is giving up now. Alfred Morris just ripped off a 39-yard touchdown run to make it 21-3, and the Bucs offense looks like it's going nowhere. If Tampa Bay can't score quickly, this game could be over.
On the touchdown, it's pretty clear that Adrian Clayborn replacement Daniel Te'o-Nesheim can't make the play, while Eric Wright and Ronde Barber both miss tackles.

It's 14-3 for the Redskins in the second quarter, and their latest points came off a Robert Griffin III touchdown run. The Skins got the ball because of a Josh Freeman interception, and they just efficiently marched down the field, with one fourth-down conversion and two offside penalties on the Bucs. Tampa Bay looks like a mess on both sides of the ball.

Mark Barron is a pretty physical guy, in case you didn't know. Here's one first-round pick slamming the hell out of another first-round pick. Barron got called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty there, and that eventually led to a missed Redskins field goal. Do you think that penalty was the right call? Let us know!

The Bucs got off to a good start, getting a field goal and a three-and-out on the Redskins first drive, but Washington's alive. They just moved down the field thanks to a few missed tackles on the Bucs defense, and Robert Griffin III then appeared to run in the ball. A big hit by Mark Barron and Ahmad Black turned that into a fumble, but Pierre Garcon recovered that.
And here's, of course, your GIF of that play.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins have started playing already, but the Skins found out right before the game that they'll be missing two players: safety Brandon Meriweather and receiver Aldrick Robinson. That's because Meriweather ran over Robinson during warmups, knocking the receiver out and injuring his own knee. You won't be seeing those guys today, but we've got the GIF:
