The Bucs have 4 main set backs so far.

What I think the issue has been for the bucs so far in this early NFL season is summed up into 4 reasons.

1. They dont have a back that can compliment Martin,if they do they are not using him. Why is this so important you say? Because of the running style tampa has they need someone who can come in and change the rhythm of the running attack, that will allow them to break out some of those big runs you are supposed to get by running the ball a lot, and having some hog mollies up front who is going to be physical. Ware has come in and done some things, but the fact that he has been used so little being a 3rd down back, tells his limitations in my eyes. Blount should be the guy, but there is more going on to that situation then what is being told in the media, and I think that is hurting his production. Martin has been above average, another above average complimentary RB will benefit our team. The bucs lack of a consistent efficient #2 RB is 1 set back.

2. Where is Adrian Claybourn? I mean, I was on ESPN.com at work looking at the bucs stats, it had adrian Claybourn tallied for 2 tackles through 3 games. I can understand no sacks at this point, but 2 tackles in the words of Chris Carter "Come on Man". I noticed he has not been making so much noise off the edge, and you will think there is not much resistance from the opposing offensive line being to the fact that Mccoy and Bennet have been real effective thus far. That mean the dline as a whole is not maximizing their full pass rushing ability. Why? Because Adrian is a big part of what we got going on on defense. A big part of what he does in the run game is not going to be mentioned and there is not a stat for it, and I understand that. But as far as getting after the QB he has got to pick it up, I know it seems there are bigger things going on for tampa rather then Claybourns lack of production. But having a guy who is going to touch the QB at Adrians DE position, plus the way our other dlinemen is playing helps covers up the Bucs biggest set back.

3. Our secondary is playing horrible. I know there are some guys out there busting their butts making plays, but the group as a whole is the worst in the league. I can see Barron struggles, I can aslo see his strengths which I can see why the bucs were so eager to get him. Barron is a beast which fits the bucs new butcher mentality on defense, but he is still learning at this time which is a issue right now for the worst secondary in the league at this time. "HOWEVER", this aint tampa2 any more not even cover2, there is a lot of bump man and some of our players dont seem up to the challenge. The Dline is getting good pressure but these guys keep getting burnt. I knew this will expose Talib, I mean he is going to go hard cause it is just in him to do it and I respect that. But he be having mental lapses that be causing big plays to happen. Ronde needs to be in the box or playing deep I just dont think he is fast enough to be left on an island the way this defense requires the DBs to be. We are just getting a taste of what Barron can do, once he fully understand his role in this defense he will play faster, and he will be able to make big plays, plus cover up some of the limitations for the other DBs. I know it cant be good to be a Tampa Bay Buccaneer DB right now on the football field. That is reason 3 for the Bucs set back so far.

4. Quincy Black this guy got to show me something cause dating back to last year he has done nothing. Quincy is a superior athlete, who is physical, and can run with just about every one of these new age tight ends. Someone with his build should always put up good numbers as a NFL linebacker. So I question him mentally and his ability to play the game. We need for him to step up, its urgent because we are playing good run defense but we are still leaving plays on the field and Blacks play is a reason why. I am not 100% sure what the sam role is in this defense, but I can tell you the SAM is supposed to meet extra blockers at the line of scrimmage such as pulling linemen Ends and backs. Plus he is going to have to get after the QB, now I know he is not on the field most of the time during passing situations, but I dont think Black has what it takes mentally to play SAM in our defense and I dont think he is ready to go where Schaino is about to take us.
