My observations on the Week 2 Preseason Game

I must apologize. I know you all have been awaiting my thoughts on the game. I just got a chance to watch the game on my DVR this morning. So lets get into it. First I'm not really concerned about the score. Its preseason and most of the points were against the second unit, or given up because of the second unit offense. So it isn't really a big deal to me. I think it just showed flashbacks of last season of us failing to score and the other team scoring on us at ease that had some of the fans on here concerned.

Josh Freeman is still struggling with his decision making. Looking at his first option too much and trying to force it along with being inaccurate. Which was a big reason on why I wanted to get a better RB for him to help block and be his safety blanket to dump off to if he has trouble with his accuracy to receivers. Thank goodness for Doug Martin. Jeremy Trueblood sucks. He is decent at run blocking but he must be replaced next year. He is horrible in pass protection and he had a horrible game. We have to draft high for a RT. Jeremy Zuttah also had a bad game as well. Horrible on pass protection. Also seeing the Bucs getting another C in the later rounds as insurance. Doug Martin is the truth. He will be our starter and the go to guy. Rightfully so. Legarrate Blount struggled a bit because of the lack of speed and elusiveness and got stuffed quite a bit. Nothing new. Which is why i prefer him as the change of pace back role. Better suited in it. We need him and hopes his injury isnt severe so he can return.

Why does Ronde Barber still not wrap up when he tackles? I dont think he is cut out to play FS. I think he will play more nickle back and either Black or Grimm will step up as our FS. Ahmad Black looks like he can make some plays. He popped out to me. Also Leonard Johnson too. We need guys that can TACKLE. Mark Barron is a beast. I love him already. Cody Grimm made a couple plays. Good for him. Im rooting for him. Did look bad on a couple of plays but it was because of the 3rd string Cbs not doing their jobs. Lavonte David still making plays. They need him on the field more. Quincy Black sucks. Misses tackles. No improvement whatsoever from him. Im done with him. McCoy, and Bennett looked real good getting pressure up front for the most part. Clayborn didnt jump out to me. Mason Foster was ok. Still a little timid out in coverage. The overall run defense was solid even though Talib didnt keep containment on the first TD and I have to give credit to CJ2k. He looks like he is back. Myron Lewis has shown me nothing.

Nadje Goode and Keith Tandy also have shown me nothing as well. Not impressed. Bill Sheridan. This is second week in a row i have seen you drop the DT in coverage. I do not like it. Please take that play from your playbook and burn it. We need to draft some LB's that can fly to the ball and tackle. Out LB depth is terrible. The backups stink. Plain and simple. Michael Smith needs to return kicks hands down. They need to design some creative blocking schemes to let him take those kicks to the house. Finally Dekoda Watson should be on the field as much as possible to get after the QB. Dude is a beast at getting pressure. I dont care. Take Black of the field and put Watson in more. Nothing else comes to mind.If i missed something or if you agree or disagree with anything I said just let me know.
