The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have taken Donald Penn off the active/non-football-injury, allowing him to participate in practice for the first time since the start of training camp. Penn had missed all of training camp with a calf injury suffered during the offseason in some kind of non-football incident.
Demar Dotson had been the starting left tackle in Penn's absence and had played surprisingly well. Dotson will get one more chance to start tonight, as Penn is not yet ready to participate in a game. Having the Pro Bowler back from injury will certainly be an improvement and make Josh Freeman just a little more comfortable in the pocket. Meanwhile, Demar Dotson now gets a chance to compete with Jeremy Trueblood for the starting right tackle job.
