The bucs is a team to reckon with in my opinion. I believe our offense will be efficient, we have efficient players at every level of the offense. This is a new offense so we are not for sure that the players will have all of the particulars worked out as of yet. However because we are going to be a run fist football team it makes those certain particulars easier to pick up, then say that of a high octane passing offense predicated on timing. And on the ground I believe the bucs is ready to bang against teams like BMORE, SANFRAN, Pittsburgh, and more. With all that working out Freeman did he may have gained himself a step during the training process. Having Vincent Jackson on the football field, puts all of those other wideouts in a position to succeed. The offense is ready in my book, but having Martin effective is key. The defense is ready to but this is the thing.........
The defense will struggle early on in the season. Not because they don't have the ability and or talent, but because I think there will be a adjustment period for the guys to grasp the scheme. That factor is not a problem to me, cause I believe the players we have is intelligent enough to handle the challenge. The guys we have on defense have tremendous ability, but you cant chase the inevitable. They have not put it together yet on the field in the old defense, and they are just begging ot put it together in this new defense. I think Talib will struggle with his discipline early on, Warren Sapp says the same of Ronde Barber. Sapps says that Ronde is a gambler and you cant be like that at the FS position( I think Sapp is over thinking that).
Barron is going to take a little time adjusting to his responsibilities, he has a lot put on his shoulders, he is going to attack like a Derrick Brooks version of this defense. What I mean by that is, in the tampa two, the defensive line wrecks havoc to put the weak side line backer in position to make a play, if the WILL plays his assignment correct he gains the ability to make a lot of plays, that was Brooks. In Schaino defense, the linemen and linebackers wrecks havoc and that puts that 8th man in the box Barron in a position to clean up plays. In the run defense the linebackers will blitz pulling guards and fullbacks, they will not be dropping back in zone a high percentage of plays, in the old defense you were more of maintain your gap and then you attack,Rah liked to say play the run on the way to the pass. In this defense you are to destroy anything that comes in that gap.
That alone will create a swagger for any defensive player who will play in this defense, hence a identity. I know Claybourn is ready for this, Mr. Mccoy is on deck. Bennett is physical enough for it. Mason Foster is to, but he has to show he can put it together, cause playing in this defense puts the MIKE in a position to make a high number plays also, or any other MIKE linebacker in any defense. To me the linebacker David will be solid he has a lot to learn to, I just think he has a gift that no matter what he does on the field, he is going to find a way to be effective. WIth that being said I think it will be near week 8 before this defense truly finds itself, but they have the talent to come out with a 3 and 4 record while going through the process, thats not a postion for a streach run to the playoffs. Before we were assassins on defense, but now we are butchers I want to see how this is going to play out.
This training camp has been boring compared to the last few training camps. But that is because of one thing there is no hype, everything that is being conducted and told during a press conference is about getting a job done, down to business and strictly football. No one is stressing on putting things together, by this point in the camp, I do think these guys know and understand their roles. They just have to execute their assignments the right way. You only learn how to do that on the field in live battle. Its just dull by that I mean the overall moreale of this tranning camp not much excitement.
HOWEVER!! the fact that training camp is so boring, gives me more belief that my buccaneer solders is ready to get the job done. The group of players we have know what it takes to win in this league and they know what it takes to lose. It is impressive to see certain players go through this development process, we have a lot of players who are just begging to taste how it is to play in this league. Plus some that is at the prime of their careers doing their thang , and one legend who also has that ability I mentioned of David in no matter he does on the football field, he( Ronde Barber) will find a way to be efficient. For that reason alone during the 2012- 2013 NFL football season baring injury, the Tampa Buccaneers will be a team to be reckoned with.
