As I look at what the buccaneers have done over the course of this off season, I can't help but like what I see. I think the old buccaneer D was one of the best in history. However what made it so? I remember when they were here, there were also some pretty high octane offenses in the game. They all dreaded playing in Raymond James. I think the safety position was key to that. We had an awesome front 4. However what we had besides that were safeties that were good tacklers and enforcers, but were also a strength in pass coverage. We also had Lb's (Derrick Brooks, Shelton Quarrels) you could say the same about. This draft has brought us players that I believe will also have some of these attributes. This defense has always needed an above average player at the Safety position. Anytime we have had less than that, we were not a very good defense, no matter if we had good corners or not.. So for the Buccaneers, I think getting Mark Barron and Lavonte David was the way to go. Those two positions were key to our success then, and I believe will be in the future. Thoughts?
