So I have been seeing a lot of possible Bucs offseason predictions and wanted to put up what the Bucs Offseason should look like if we want to get back to 10-6
So without further ado...
Dear Bucs,
Free Agency
Offense:
Internal: Resign Restricted Free Agents- Preston Parker, Demar Dotson (1 year) and LeGarrette Blount
Resign Free Agents: Earnest Graham, James Lee 1 year deals
Restructure any of these contracts: Kellen Winslow, Quincy Black, Davin Joseph, Jeff Faine if you're feeling stingy, not a real need though except for maybe Black
Sign Connor Barth to 4+ years
External: Sign Mike Tolbert, he’s does everything well that Blount can’t
Sign Pierre Garcon, will give us that deep threat we need, is ready to be a #1
Sign Ted Ginn or Eddie Royal, 49ers showed how important special teams are
Sign Anthony Collins, Solid young tackle, possible replacement for horrible Trueblood
Sign King Dunlap from Philly for O line depth
Defense:
Internal: Resign Restricted Free Agent- Michael Bennett, No brainer
Resign Free Agents: Ronde (1 year if he wants, if not let him go don’t mess up like Brooks)
Elbert Mack (Mack can be solid corner inside, was forced to play outside and got toasted, 1 year deal)
Sign Haynesworth (Joking)
External:
Sign Jason Jones, Broderick Bunkley, or Cory Redding to push McCoy and provide depth (see New York Giants) all have experience and this very talented line needs guidance (Jones could be long time starter)
Sign Erin Henderson and put Mason Foster at strongside, should solidify one of our weaknesses with black as backup, makes for good rotation
Sign Curtis Lofton. This will be our “Big” signing, will ask for a lot but its worth it taking him away from the falcons makes it worth it
Sign either Richard Marshall or Terrell Thomas, both are young, athletic cornerbacks Thomas is a little worrisome due to his injury but he should be completely healed.
Draft:
1st: Morris Claiborne, there should be no discussion over this. Running backs don’t last nearly as long as can be found at a much lower cost in free agency than corner backs. If trade with Cincinnati is proposed which I doubt it will be, take the two firsts and hopefully a later round.
2nd: Would love Kelechi Osemele or Kevin Zeitler to solidify left guard and allow Zuttah to play at center where he is more effective but I feel as though it would be a reach picking them. Instead you have to go with Zach Brown out of North Carolina he has too much talent to pass up at a position where we have been weak. Tight end prospects are intriguing for this pick
3rd: This is where we find the Sproles-esque player we have been missing. Either Lamichael James or Isaiah Pead would offer a change of pace back that could be the big-play player we have needed.
4th: No pick courtesy of the very unimpressive Luke Stocker
5th: Nate Potter from Boise State: Versatile OL who could help with depth problems at guard
6th: Possible Terrence Ganaway for eventual fullback replacement of Earnest Graham but more pressing need is backup quarterback, a position which BJ Coleman of Chattanooga would fill admirably
7th: BPA: Preferably some DB Possibly Robert Blanton out of Notre Dame
With an offseason like this, which is one that doesn’t seem too extreme especially without the hassle of too many of the large bidding wars players like Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks, this upcoming season could be an incredibly successful one for our buccaneers.
Tell me what you think!
