Well, no one yet but I am positive if I hear more people say something about a train or being expensive I might be inclined to leave Bucs Nation. No offense guys, Trent Richardson is not a train. He can not pull tons of cargo or your mom over thousands of miles. He is not the A-Train. Make up a new name for him or say Trent Richardson.
Second, the numbers from Patrick Peterson are 4 years for 19 million. A.J. Green was 4 years 19.69 million. For the first year, Morris Claiborne would cost the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about 3.5 million dollars the way each of the previous players contracts are set up. We are not breaking the bank for him. Trent Richardson would get THE SAME contract. If anything, I would argue Richardson doesn't deserve it as much.
Both people would be amazing with our team but do we need Blount and Richardson to split carries? Since Ronde is coming back and the signing or Eric Wright, do we really need another corner? Is Talib going to be on the team? If we could answer those three questions, none of you would be here.
What I can say is this, we will know Talib's fate BEFORE the draft. If he is jailed, I expect us to release or trade him. It happens in the NFL. Look at Plaxico Burress or Brandon Cox. Eric Wright got paid as a #2 Cornerback. He even stated in the introductions of our "Big Three" that he was overwhelmed last year. Ronde Barber is a leader for the defense but he isn't a mentor. Both Tiki and Ronde Barber have been called out for not mentoring. We screwed up with Derrick Brooks, that is why we let Ronde back. He is still good for a Nickel Cornerback. And we see more and more 3-5 Wide Receivers on the field than ever before. That why we shouldn't worry about overpaying(if you still think we will).
Hate to break it to you guys but Richardson is known for his strength not for his speed. Yeah, if we were still big back searching, I would think we would take him. But splitting carries with Blount is more like Turner and Rodgers of the Falcons or Stewart and Williams of the Panthers. We would need a fast and agile guy to compliment our bruiser. Look for a later round for that. I mean Danny Woodhead and Arian Foster went undrafted. We can look elsewhere for our compliment back.
I will leave you with this to ponder. How many rounds does a draft have and yet we are so focused on two people rather than the others we can get? Look at the other people we can get that doesn't include Trent Richardson or Morris Claiborne.
