Report: Bill Lazor won't join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

According to a report by Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, Ron Turner and Bill Lazor were both candidates to be the next Buccaneers offensive coordinator. Well, no longer is that the case according to the Cavalier Insider, who cover the Virginia Cavaliers. Bill Lazor is the offensive coordinator at Virginia and will remain in that capacity, if they can be believed. It's not clear whether Lazor turned down the Bucs or whether the Bucs weren't interested in Lazor after interviewing him.

That leaves Ron Turner as the only known candidate for offensive coordinator. Frank Cignetti Jr. was rumored to be joining the Buccaneers for weeks, but he took a job with the St. Louis Rams as their quarterbacks coach. Given the way the Bucs approached the head coaching search it wouldn't surprise me if they came up with a surprise hire, however. Hue Jackson is still on the market, at least.

Agreed... Please not turner..

We are the laughing stock of the NFL. I’m not laughing one bit though….

Looks like were getting Turner!

I guess Lazor was unwilling to work here for a lunchable and a reach around. Which is also the main selling point for Turner. (better than nothing) Turner already borrowed a pen to sign.

Eff.

The good news is that the Bucs have consistently pulled out unmentioned candidates. Hopefully this is another case of that

Schiano hasn't coached a single game

So I’m not sure how you want me to answer that.

I would still love to see Bud Foster

Get a shot at the NFL or at least be open to it. I think he would pair really well with Schiano. He wants to be a college head coach but has consistently been passed up on, mostly due to his brash personality and some believe the dui on his record. None of that would matter as an NFL coordinator. He is a good teacher and I believe would be able to develop young guys into playmakers.

I think if Butch Davis

Was the candidate he’d have been hired by now.

unless

its coming down to dollars and cents, remember negotiations for big contracts especially with agents involved. I think he may still be in the running but needs to iron out the details.

Don't think we hire Turner

I think there is someone they are talking to that no one knows about. Its been how they have worked with the whole coaching search.

Ron Turner... not a good choice, but

they need a veteran presence on the staff.

Schiano & Turner… well, they share two things, actually: 1) they were together with the Bears in 1996, and 2) they both have college head coaching experience.

So let me get this straight....We are considering the QB coach of

possibly the worst group of QB’s in the league at Indy (minus Manning who was A: hurt & B: doesn’t need much coaching) to take over our Offense? Somehow I have to think something else is up…at least I hope

For the first time in a long time..

Concerning the Bucs, I am so very ashamed. Noone wants to come here and I can’t say as I blame them. Its like they look at the contracts, see where they are getting short changed like the severence package and say “thanks…but no thanks”

Apparently John Shoop is interviewing with us. Former QB coach with Gruden.

And worked with Butch Davis. Could be trying to get him is the OC. Hopefully could help bring Butch in as DC. That would be better than the combos that we seem to be left with right now.

That is a bad picture of Turner

Looks like he is from whoville, all skinny with a belly sticking out.

Have faith

The glazers are masters of back room deals and private lives. They could be working on something we simply wont hear until announced publicly a la Schiano.

Yeah but who says Shiano is the best guy?

He’s an experienced HC unlike Morris, so I will support him, but we don’t know how he will do really and he’s off to a bad start hiring guys.

Billick and Davis are still out there, shoot even Jackson is out there. Somebody needs to be hired and soon.

Bad is a loose definition

Belichek was considered a bad coach after he left CLE, do people think that now? The system, the support staff, players, ownership, GM all play a role in the success of the organization. It all fits together like a puzzle and when those pieces fit together perfectly you get a winning combo. I think that we are FAR better off with the staff now then we had in the last 2 regimes. Have faith, the individual pieces mean nothing, its the big picture folks. Go Bucs!!!!

Jimmy Raye

there’s alot of behind the scene stuff going on because i read a article that said Jimmy Raye had been hired at Assistant Offensive Coordinator don’t know how true this is..But this let me know that 9 times out of 10 anybody they interview publicly is just a smoke screen for something else..Because notice how nobody that we know will be interviewed has been hired just like steelers line backer coach….

What do you guys think of Rick Neuhiesel4OC?

NFL experience playing and coaching and can bring some type of veteran knowledge to the club. I wouldn’t be surprised if Glazernik pulled him out of their sleeve. So what do you guys think can we run the pistol?

by GoBuxGo on Feb 8, 2012 6:45 PM EST via iPhone app reply actions

Nice name

Im sure thats going to confuse some people, lol. I have looked into him. Doesn’t seem to be a sexy pick but has potential. Who knows what glazernik has up their sleeves, so far I think we are making headway though.
