The Bucs selected Trent Richardson in the first link, mock draft. Not Claiborne.
Love Buccaneers - Hate Glazer
I herd someone say
Dom is not good at evaluating a rb talent, maybe thats because he has took the same approach as many on bucsnation has, and that is just find someone and plugem in. Well we’ve seen how that has worked out, and dom seems like a guy who learns from his mistakes. If he wants to protect his job sand wants this team to be great then I got 2 words for you, draft richardson

No... you misunderstood Keyser
Dom is not good at evaluating ANY talent – at all. Only the most obvious players.

WTF IS GOING ON...
PACKERS DENIED US TO TALK TO MCADOO FOR OC POSITION…DO THE FB GODS HAVE IT OUT FOR US OR WHAT? ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!!!
Why would another team hurt themselves - to help us?
If our owners don’t seem to care, why would Green Bay. To me, this is shaping up to be just as painful as the Rah hire. Bad OC and DC plus marginal assistants. God I hope Mark Cuban buys the Bucs. I am sick of this penny-pinching Glazer crap.
Some here, for some peculiar reason, were disappointed that Rah got the axe and even defended him a little. I do not get that – at all. The funny thing is, I bet there are still people sending money to Jim & Tammy Faye Baker too. Air conditioned dog houses indeed. Ha.

I was willing to give Rah a chance, and I'm willing to give Schiano a chance
but this looks just awful right now.
Ouch
And that article opens like this:
New Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano is struggling to put a staff together, league sources told me.
This seems to be a near disaster at this point.
To Greg Schiano - your struggling here is just beginning
you have just seen the tip of the iceberg my friend.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 10:54 AM EST up reply actions
How could he?
what school would hire him within 14 weeks of a season if he’s doing that poorly?
Time to shamelessly plug my book and short story!
Wow.. Well this is really getting rediculous.
At this point I can basically see the entire Rutgers coaching staff ending up here. Which would be….well, let’s just say less than impressive.
They need to get off their cans & sign Hue Jackson before it is too late.

YEP...
LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO BE A LONG YEAR!!! UGGGG
Its not like these potential coaches don’t want to come here for the most part. We can’t do anything if the teams block us from cherry picking. Seems like that rule hinders your advancement and you need to be out of work before getting a better job. We cannot bring in the Rutgers staff – recipe for disaster at this level.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND ...
HOW SOMEONE CAN BLOCK ANOTHER PERSON FROM ADVANCING THERE CAREER! IT’S GARBAGE…
They likely have a contract to filfill...
you can’t just walk away from that. May include a non-compete clause if you do.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 10:58 AM EST up reply actions
The NFL needs to change that rule
Position coach to OC/DC should be allowed. It is a huge promotion.
If you are under contract...
well, then you are under contract. Buy-out clauses, no compete clauses and other things of that nature are likely involved in all of the contractural jargon. I would not want people cherry-picking my staff. Especially so if you have had some losses already. Look just how quickly we went from a Superbowl winner to the joke of the league.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 11:07 AM EST up reply actions
The league rules supercede all that
Just like OC/DCs can be interviewed for HC jobs, imo positions coaches should be allowed to advance their career as OC/DC. That is not a lateral move.
Can't believe everything you hear or read
Sal Palantiono, bradshaw was told not to score but he could not resist the temptation. Bradshaw said his momentum carried him into the endzone, which was my first thought. I won’t believe that the bucs are in trouble looking for coaches until I here it from the horses mouth. My perception is they doing a detail search and have been turned down by who they have approached, quick without looking it up name the 49ers assistants

I'd hate to see Ronde accept it...
we have NO idea if he would be a good coach or not. I think no,t since the DBs were such a mess this season and he didn’t seem to step up into a “coach-on-the-field” role on his own.

I can't wait till the combine. I bet TR can benchpress an orca

On to the next one
The Packers just lost 2 offensive coaches so we really can’t blame them for blocking McAdoo for an interview. If Schiano’s Rutgers staff was going to be hired as his NFL staff I think we woulde have heard alot more about it. There’s plenty of quality coaches out there aside from the big name retreads stuck on the carousel. Schiano & Glazernik better make use of all the time they can get before the offseason really gets rockin.
by GoBuxGo on Feb 7, 2012 10:45 AM EST via iPhone app reply actions
Are you talking NFL quality
or college level or a hybrid? And just who are these coachs that are so plentiful? I’m curious who you would name. Then, why would they fit the Bucs and Schiano?
While I don't know of any hybrid coaches
What ever that means, I’d hope Schiano can find guys to fit into his system. Good teachers with the patience to iron out the bevy of wrinkles at one buc place. Davis for DC and honestly i’d say I’d like to see Cignetti Jr pried away from Rutgers. Nobody can be worse than our last OC and honestly Cignetti would be coahing much better talent then he would at Rutgers.
by GoBuxGo on Feb 7, 2012 11:16 AM EST via iPhone app up reply actions
A hybrid is someone who has coached at both levels, like Davis
You named two that are already in the mix and you have to think by offering Quinn the job Davis turned us down. So who else in this plentiful group?
Well it wouldn't be safe to assume
That Quinn turning the DC job down that Davis is totally out of the running. And by you’re definition of a “hybrid” Cignetti would fall into that category. The point I was making is that big name coaches are just easier names ti remember when you want to bash them and if I had all the answers Glazernik would hire me as some sort of consultant. Personally I wish we would’ve went after Gus Malzahn or even Paul Chryst but they have jobs now.
by GoBuxGo on Feb 7, 2012 11:47 AM EST via iPhone app up reply actions
Hopefully all of these rejections will serve as a huge wake up call to the Glazers
although some of the moves were blocked, several coaches turned down jobs which would normally be considered a promotion. You can’t invest next to nothing in a team and expect it to respected around the sports stratosphere.
The Glazers check their bank balance on-line every morning...
that is likely the extent of their interest in giving us a competitive team here. Actions, not words.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 11:04 AM EST up reply actions
When you look at the Pats / Giants
It becomes incredibly obvious how FAR we are behind them. I could name 4-6 players on each team who are better than every single player on our roster. It’s …. pathetic.
Well, at least we stole a coach from a middle-of-the road college program...
so there will be at least one person at the staff meeting.

You can say that about alot of teams in the league
Thats why those 2 teams played for immortality

What a roller coaster
It seems so long ago we watched the Schiano press conference that even skeptics of his hire admitted he pushed all the right buttons in his comments. This is getting to be endemic to this organization. Lofty rhetoric with no good follow through in the decision making.
Actions, not words...
are needed here. Just campaign promises and rhetoric until someone actually does something.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 11:10 AM EST up reply actions
Actions or words, timing is everything
You get the sense the Glazers work in a different time zone than everyone else. Maybe it’s AST- anal standard time.
I'm not worried about big names
I’m more worried about the systems these guys are going to run. Then we can find out what kind of players we will look for in the draft and free agency. Another thing is will these coaches put players in position to succeed, or will they be like olson and just make the players run what he wants to run.
by keysersoze19 on Feb 7, 2012 11:04 AM EST via Android app reply actions
Someone made the point about not knowing who the 49ers assistants are.
That does ring true a little bit. You don’t have to find a proven commodity for it to be effective as long as it fits the system.
by flash_kiley on Feb 7, 2012 11:53 AM EST via Android app reply actions
That was my point
To me the system we run is more important then anything, if we bring in a dc and him and greg wants to run a 3_4 we really don’t have the personnel to do that
by keysersoze19 on Feb 7, 2012 12:19 PM EST via Android app up reply actions
Not sure I would compare Stanford to Rutgers...
which is basically what you’re doing. Certainly wouldn’t compare Schiano to Harbaugh.
I'm not comparing them
What I’m saying is that if tampa front office brings in some unproven assistants that doesn’t mean they are just bringing on guys to fill up spots, and I think the reason they are taking so long is because they are conducting a detailed search to find the right guys

should be another edit...
12. Minnesota Vikings, Dre Kirkpatrick. CB, Alabama (Projected trade: from Seahawks)
Kirkpatrick’s weed arrest is going to get his name bumped down on some draft boards but he is a first rate corner whose legal troubles pale in comparison to Chris Cook.
Kirkpatrick’s charges were dropped. He was unaware to the fact marijuana was in his friend’s car of which he was a passenger.
there wasn't a suggestion otherwise...
…at least by me.
Kirkpatrick’s weed arrest is going to get his name bumped down on some draft boards
It may or may not affect his draft stock, it depends on what happens during the draft. No one knows…I am merely suggesting the person writing the mock article did not do their homework. There is no mention that the charges were completely dropped.
If we moved down into the late 1st Round...
because of a positive trade. I would not mind selecting Kirkpatrick, but I would also prefer LB Keuchly, C/OG Konz, or OT Jonathan Martin
by Cracker Ball on Feb 9, 2012 12:09 PM EST up reply actions
Well I was just offered a full-time job
so if the Bucs want me to coach they’re gonna have to talk to Winn Technology Group first…
Time to shamelessly plug my book and short story!
