Just an FYI since I think FA will be important to determine what needs we still have to address in the draft. I am by now way indicating that will will get any of these players just giving a list of possibles. Also I did not sepreat based on our needs. Just a list.

Your welcome
One heck of a shopping list. Hope we can get some of these guys, although most are likely to get franchise tagged. But I suspect some will be salary cap casualties.
Impressive list of upper tier FA's.
Now lets see the lower tier FA list, cause that is who we will end up with. DISSAPOINTMENT!!!

Have faith
that some of these players could be rocking our colors this coming season. Glazernik made the proclamation to fans and media that “they will be active in FA” while I dont think they will drop big bucks like the eagles they will spend moer than they did in the last 3 years combined.
What top tier FA is going to want to come here?
Assuming they’re even serious about spending, we are likely going to have to overspend on second tier FAs to get them to come here.
We may need to sign a guy with enough cash for him not to care
A young guy that can make an impact that needs a second chance would be perfect. enter desean jackson. having issues getting signed in philly and they have already stated they would not franchise tag him. would be a splash signing that may spark some interest and would help stretch the field.
I would say most FA's will want to see what the first season under Schiano looks like before they agree to come here
and really can you blame them?

good point
but this league changes so quickly if a player belives in his philosophy and has the cash from ownership to back it, I think htats enough to convince “the right” players to come here first to set the ball rolling for the rest.
forte is restricted.

Matt forte, id like to see money get thrown his way
by Carlitin1988 on Feb 6, 2012 9:38 PM EST via Android app reply actions
Not happening
He will be a bear again next year, WAY to valuable to the franchise. The bears f/o although known for their poor decision making wont let forte go as they would likely have a riot on their hands from fans.
They will franchise tag him
He is pissed and with good reason but thats the bears f/o decision making, they really go out of their way to alienate their players. You think we have it bad here look at CHI and CLE f/o. WOW! we are lucky.
Soo many names
There are so many young free agents that we can snag to improve us immediately. How about Laron Landry, Corteland Finnegan, Curtis Lofton, and a WR. Maybe Desean or Stevie Johnson. They are all young and would fill obvious needs throughout the team. It’ll be interesting to see who we sign.
I think you might mean "It will be interesting IF we sign"...
not off to a confidence-building start.

We will end up signing the castoffs and dreggs of the NFL.
I am hoping for the best, but preparing for the worse.

Like I have said many times here...
a group of any 5 of us, armed with a Pro Football Weekly and Ourlads Guide, could select a far better draft class than Dom and his scouting department will EVER accomplish here.
A lot goes into signing players
First the player has to have some interest in coming here. The solution to that problem sign a couple of big name players by throwing some serious money at them. Interest problem solved. Second sign players that will either start where theres a significant need or compete with an existing starter to increase competition and add depth. Finally the deal has to work both ways in terms of contract, both player and team need to be able to see the worth.
What's wrong with his draft classes?
I wasn’t a fan the first year except Freeman, but since then he has valued talent and need better than i expected. He brought in a risky williams, he knew what blount was capable of, he made the obvious choice in McCoy, and got us Adrian and Bowers, peronally i like what he’s done in the draft so far

Not a sexy signing...
But either Nicks or Grubbs to play the left guard position would be a major upgrade. Given the lack of quality at Center in this draft I would also prefer to pick up Wells. Lots of positional talent in this draft but other than OT its pretty light on Trench warriors. As far as draft day trades if Dom is wise he could clean up with someone wanting to move up for Trent Richardson. There are a few playoff teams that would be willing to move up for a RB, New England would come to mind for that off the top of my head.
Our line can hold up for another season
Our defense though…. man it pained me to see how bad we were on defense coming from a traditionally defensive team.
Draft Play-makers
Pick up D-backs and O-lineman in free agency.
Just my opinion.
I’d love to see Ladarius Webb and Laron Landry in Tampa.
Webb and Landry would be nice
Also Carr. would be sweet to have some vets in our defense that can still run lol.
New England almost never trades up
"Number one song and a Grammy, now I'm smashing
Maserati crashing, swerving through the traffic
Wrap it 'round a pole, sell a mil off the tragedy
I defy gravity "
Some other key points to consider:
1. What is the players respective teams salary cap? (can they afford to keep them)
2. Does the team have a need to keep the player? (is he getting to old for them)
3. Does the team want him back? ( Is he worth the trouble)
4. Does that player “fit” in Tampa? ( is he even worth bringing here)
5. Does the player want a long term deal within reasonalbe cap space for us? ( can we afford him) lol
Having the ability to sign these guys...
(which we have) is one thing, selling them on TB is quite another (see HC search). We are a joke and mot even money is enough to lure the ones we really want to consider us.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 11:15 AM EST up reply actions
I think money
Is the reason people arent coming here, is not enough is being offered to coaches because the plan is to spend in FA instead. So there are two camps on this front 1. throw money at it to fix it and end up with results like Philly/Dallas. 2. Put money into new players and hope talent gets you by (appears to be what we are going for)
I will believe it when I see it...
and Dom/Glazers have clearly earned my sarcasm, suspicion and disappointment.
Until I see something, ANYTHING, even remotely smart coming from them, they should continue to recieve fiery criticism here. Hope that doesn’t make me a bad fan – maybe just a newspaper-whipped one.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 7, 2012 11:42 AM EST up reply actions
They dont have much of a choice
They risk further alienating their dwindling fan base and losing even more money. They need to show the fans they are serious about their commitment to winning and the failed “build through the draft” mentality can support an NFL team in such a competitive league. WE NEED FA’s no way around that, if they don’t they could stand to lose more than they would save.
More than half these guy will never be "available"
but whatever makes you feel better

Because ...
As you see with the new york giants you can never have too many pass rushers . And they still didnt have north carolina’s marvin austin last year , Plus you need somebody who can lead that young group like tuck does .If you form a nucleus of clayborn , bennett , bowers & williams/campbell we are gonna be better of plus you dont wanna wear those guys out against the run especially bowers .
I didnt put cornerback because the draft presents better talent at the position then free agency does .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:08 PM EST up reply actions
I Wouldnt ...
Make him a first choice guy .
He’s a bit overrated because he doesnt shut wideouts down , He plays dirty in try to take them out the game In that isnt gonna help us against the wideouts we play .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:17 PM EST up reply actions
Mario Williams is a LB too, and a stacked one at that.. if you know what im talking about?
Check out my skate video, where I break my face: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmfM5XZaFR0&feature=related
Williams
is a hybrind DE/LB who fits in the 3-4 or 4-3 systems comfortably, I have said it before that I would LOVE to get him here, especially since he is not likely going to be a Texan due to cap issues. What a signing that would be. Him and D-Jax from Philly would make some people rethink this team.
Thank You
He got drafted as a 4-3 defensive end .
He is used to having his hand in the dirt .
He just before last season moved to that role in wade phillips defense if you know what im talking about .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:10 PM EST up reply actions
I do and I REALLY like the guy
Good off field behavior (so far) and leader, good work ethic (according to teammates) and flexible (in moving to a hybrid position like he did) I would love to see him in pewter.
not likely
to get anymore defensive lineman unless they are to backfill starters for depth. like the SS picks, WR V-jax will likely get tagged Colston though we could see either him or Meachum becme available as a salary cap casualty. LB- ehhh, Dream pick up, rice would fit right in, forte would be nice but neither will ever happen, their respective teams will either tag/resign them.
.....
Dont you only get tag if you an restricted free agent ?
Because the guys i put are unresticted free agents in they cant be tagged twice back to back correct ?
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:12 PM EST reply actions
Not sure on that
I will do some research on that and get back to you. I think you can tag any player under some sort of contract but I may wrong on that.
I would rather like the Bucs grab Pierre Garcon
I don’t think the Bucs need a true #1 receiver as much as they just need some who can consistently stretch the field with their speed to take pressure off the Bucs’ other receivers. I believe Garcon can do that. He has way less baggage than Desean Jackson which will prove valuable in the new disciplined direction Schiano is trying to take the team. Also Garcon will require much less money to sign him. With the money saved on Garcon, the Bucs could possibly pursue another receiving threat like JerMichael Finley.
I Agree
The only receiver i really want is vincent jackson if not him just settle for a deep threat .
I Agree with the jermichael finley too but he said he wants to be paid like a top wideout .
Having finley/winslow is equal to having the patriots tightends .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:23 PM EST up reply actions
I would want finley
but would get rid of winslow, although maybe having finley here will make him step it up again. plus I beleive winslow is still under contract. V-jax will more than likely stay in SD unless he wants some ungodly amount of money. which means we definitely wont talk to him lol.
It would be cool.
Stop wearing black gloves Winslow, voodoo messed you up.
Check out my skate video, where I break my face: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmfM5XZaFR0&feature=related
Yeah But That Makes Us ...
Less physical in less of an air attack team .
id rather get a big run after the catch receiver ( v.jackson , m.colston, dwayne bowe )
Do exactly what they say run the ball , Take shots , And play good DEFENSE .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:32 PM EST up reply actions
desean jackson
is fast though and would stretch the field for our existing receivers to do what they should. and with a deep threat receiver you want speed, YAC not as important as they should have enough seperation to make up for size. A big receiver is great for uup the middle throws and redzone possessions. Few receivers are both.
Benn is only YAC receiver in my mind, well Parker is, but Benn is physical
I gotta vote speed man. Williams was that until he got nulled by DP. Need another WR who can stretch

I Seen Mock Drafts That Had ...
Us pick lsu morris claibourne in the 1st rd .
Then they had n.alabama janoris jenkins still on the board at our second pick .
I would love to double dip at corner if we be aggressive in free agency with some of the names above .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:20 PM EST reply actions
double dip would only be nice
if one of them went to nickel while we went out and got a veteran CB out of FA
If ...
We Keep Talib
Draft claiborne for other side
And jenkins plays nickle
With biggers , mack , gaitor & lewis competing
Not to mention barber coming or going
It goes from a weakness to a strength
Especially with tanard jackson getting a off-season to regain his talents , And cody grimm getting healthy , With a landry/griffin/branch wow ………..
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 7, 2012 4:27 PM EST up reply actions

He’s a stud too

The top three guys I am going to break the bank to go get
Landry, finley and grimes. Those guys will bolster our roster. You add richardson too that equation and you got a pretty good offenses, I would take winslow and finley over gronkowski and hernandez in a heart beat. Landry and grimes will help out our secondary. The only setback is I will bring in a young outside linebacker to develop to go along with foster who I believe will benefit from a year as a starter, and a full offseason program. After that all my team needs is the excellence of execution.
by keysersoze19 on Feb 8, 2012 9:59 AM EST via Android app reply actions
Like these picks
Only thing I would add would be desean jackson and in lieu of richardson I would still go claiborne.
My wish list
Brandon Carr, Ladarius Webb at CB or Finnergan or Grimes.
Tulloch, Lofton at LB or E.J. Henderson. Vincent Jackson at WR.
Sleeper pick Meachem at WR.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
Question
What do yall think about Brandon Merriweather? He’s got a bad rap for being dirty and he goes for the big hit alot but he did make the pro bowl twice before he was cut. I havent really watched him like that to say he’s a bum or if he’s good. Any insight? He is a FA and Sean Jones who I dont like is as well and thats a hole too.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
yeah. Jones was decent at times at stopping the run. He lead the team in tackles i think.
But HORRIBLE in the pass defense.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
Are You Guys Serious ... Imma Defend The U !!!
1. He is better then any other safety we have except a rejuvenated tanard jackson .
2. He’s not dirty he just punish receiversfor coming crosss the middle , Maybe he has been label dirty lately because how strict they got about being physical against defenseless receivers .
3. No player from the university of miami is dirty , They just play with another mind set & demeanor .
4. He is at best when he freelances reading the QB . His run support is solid & his ball skills are among the league top .
by RIP SEAN TAYLOR 21 on Feb 9, 2012 10:04 PM EST up reply actions
I don't mind the "dirty" part of his play...
but I don’t want stupid penalties setting us back. If he can contribute and win a starting job here, then we have little to lose. Gotta replace Sean Jones anyway.
by Cracker Ball on Feb 9, 2012 10:26 PM EST up reply actions
That's the problem
He’s dirty in such a way that constantly draws penalties. It’s stupid. There’s a reason the Pats cut him, and it’s not that they have an abundance of secondary talent.
Still a bug step up from what we have now
and whos to say that under the right coach that can reach him he can clean up the penealties? He would be an improvement and thats what we need, I get what your saying…. at what cost? but again coaching changes a lot. The patriots have great offensive minds but their defense is flat out bad, they rely on their offense to outscore the other team.
As in "he's better than Sean Jones", sure
He’s still terrible. If you’re going to sign someone, sign someone (anyone) else.
id be ok with a one year deal

He is an upgrade from sean jones
But definitely only sign the guy as a utility guy until we get a permanent replacement. If we sign him to a one year deal, test him out while we shop a permanent “Tampa” guy Im ok with that. But the dirty label gets thrown around to physical guys that dont deserve it. I havent seen anything the clearly makes him dirty, there is no Suh incident on his record. He gets some bad rep due to being physical and I think we need to get a player like him to show teams, were not the 2011 Bucs.
no, merriweather's tendacy to freelance is a huge detriment.
and you know if the hoodie gonna cut you even after you made the pro bowl…there’s a major issue with your game.
these are my top choices in FA
Brandon Carr CB 26
David Hawthorne LB 27
Jared Gaither OT 26
LaRon Landry S 27
Steve Johnson WR 26
Ben Grubbs G 28
Michael Griffin S 27
and two not listed here:
Channing Crowder LB
Brandon Routt CB
Channing Crowder
May go to TEN according to Miami Herald. Also we dont really need 2 S, we need 1 good SS. 2 CB 1 LB and 1-2 OL, 1 deep threat WR.
^And a whole lot of depth at nearly every position^

gotta disagree with that GObucgo..
i’ve seen the lineup of opponents for next year, i’m not totally liking our chances.. go to the bucs site on NFL.com to see ..i mean the NFC east , and AFC west. i’m sticking to 5 – 11.

Thats why I said
we would be so LUCKY to pull 8-8 meaning that we may not hit .500 this coming year and I’m ok with that. We are in fact building a new religion here in Tampa with Schiano as pastor. I think we will be ready to trully compete in a couple of years unless we do some big spending in FA. Then maybe sooner.
