Freeman may be more like McNabb than we want to admit
Sneaky mobile QB, shaky accuracy. Does he vomit during big moments? We don’t know yet.
I, in no way, want McNabb here. We don’t need someone to teach Freeman how to be surly and lazy.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
They are both Rocket armed, and in accurate.
However, Freeman can do it in the 4th, and of you gave Freeman: TO in his prime, Brian Westbrook, and Andy Reid; it wouldn’t even be close.
I’d rather take a chance on Freeman.

McNabb in his pre was a better athlete.

Pre= prime*
Sorry, stupid iPhone.

I am actually not against us signing McNabb to back-up Freeman...
Josh can certainly pick Donovan McNabbs brain for game preparation and film study techniques. As long as McNabb understands, and accepts, his role here is emergency QB and back-up only. Don’t need any kind ofstupid QB controversy – unless Freeman really starts to unravel at the seams. Then his lock on the starting job SHOULD come into question.
Just win baby!

I am trying to think of a guy...
that could actually come in to a game, in an emergency/injury situation, and win games for us. Anybody can hold the clipboard (see JJ), but few could actually step into an offense and give you the genuine opportunity to win (and possibly save your season).
I am not even a McNabb fan, but based on the above criteria, few options exist.

As a back up I don't mind
but no way in hell we bench Freeman for him.
"Put a jersey on!!!" Warren Sapp
If Josh Freeman actually gets benched for Donovan McNabb...
then the “Josh Freeman Experiment” here in Tampa is basically over. It’s why the OC hire is SO important. The Glazers/Dom/Schiano cannot get this one wrong – or Freeman is done here.

They've been wrong from the get go.
But I agree, we need a real OC, and I don’t think there are really any out there.
"Put a jersey on!!!" Warren Sapp
That has been my concern...
I know I bash on Dom, Rah and the Glazers A LOT here, but they have done very little to prove me wrong (to this point). I so often come away, shaking my head and wondering “What were they thinking?”
Their uber-deliberate slo-mo HC search allowed basically all of the quality assistants to be gobbled up by other teams (and I find the Steve Spagnuolo to NO hire especially galling). Todd Haley, Bill Muir and a couple are still out there, but I think they’re just flailing wildly at this late point in the game. Plus, the rest of the league thinks they’re cheap and crappy to work for.
Bill Muir would be great to have back.
As far as I know because I haven’t really been paying too much attention, we only have a HC.
"Put a jersey on!!!" Warren Sapp
Yeah... I have heard that about him
but as his career spins down, he may be willing to share his knowledge.

If it's stricly to come in during emergency situations, fine
However, I hate the justifaction that he is going to support, teach and mentor Freeman. McNabb has shown ZERO desire to do that in the past, not to mention that idea being vastly overrated. McNabb, by all reports, has been an awful teammate anywhere he goes. They may be similar in style but I would prefer just to keep JJ and take our chances.
Formerly UNFNole
No he did not.
He got pissy when he got benched? Tell me what he did to “help” Vick? It’s not like McNabb teaches accuracy. Vick was always a better runner.
Formerly UNFNole
But he was on the same team, that means he mentored, right?
I love that line of reasoning. It always gets applied whenever a young QB takes over for an old QB.
tampa tribune is a terrible paper with terrible sports writers
I wouldn’t worry about mcnabb here

I hope they get the DC hire right ...
seeing as though were going to have to face Brees Newton and Ryan twice a year, for the foreseeable future. If we want to compete for the division, it’ll be essential to have a defense that can at least slow these offenses down.
I'm more concerned with the OC....
a good defense doesnt mean *&%# if you aren’t scoring TD’s…
Well both coordinator positions are extremely important for us
but our defense is one of the worst in the league, so there has to be substantial improvement from it.
Our DEF has basically no place to go but up...
but the OC and QB coach will either salvage, or destroy, Josh Freemans career here as a Buc. Butch Davis as DC gives Schiano the ability to delegate, as Gruden did with Monte Kiffin.
One less thing for Schiano to worry about.

New regime, new players!
Glazers, if this is going to work, you need to spend in some FA talent. Now is the time.

I only agree with todd Mcshay when he agrees with me
Indianapolis Colts
Record: 2-14
Andrew Luck*, QB, Stanford
The status of Colts legend Peyton Manning is still up in the air after multiple neck surgeries, and Manning will be 36 years old next season. Meanwhile, Luck is a once-in-a-generation prospect with the physical tools and mental makeup to start from day one. Given the financial considerations involved, the smart decision is to draft Luck and part ways with Manning.
St. Louis Rams
Record: 2-14
Matt Kalil*, OT, USC
Rams QB Sam Bradford (No 1 overall, 2010) needs better protection to reach his full potential. Current St. Louis LOT Jason Smith has fallen short of expectations after being taken second overall in 2009, and with Kalil’s size, athleticism and nasty disposition he is ready to take over at left tackle from the first day of training camp.
Minnesota Vikings
Record: 3-13
Riley Reiff*, OT, Iowa
The Vikings desperately need offensive weapons to help young QB Christian Ponder, but they also need to better protect their investment in Ponder. Reiff needs to get stronger, but he is an underrated athlete with the potential to become a very good starting left tackle in the NFL.
Cleveland Browns
Record: 4-12
Robert Griffin III*, QB, Baylor
Current Browns QB Colt McCoy has shown good toughness, mental capacity and short-to-intermediate accuracy, but his lack of size and arm strength to drive the ball downfield put too many limitations on the offense. Assuming no team trades ahead of them to take Griffin, the Browns can add a dynamic weapon who will open things up. He still must improve his consistency as a decision-maker and with his underneath touch/accuracy, but his downfield accuracy was vastly improved in 2011.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 4-12
Morris Claiborne*, CB, LSU
Current Buccaneers RB LeGarrette Blount is no Trent Richardson (Alabama), but taking a running back this early is always a reach and Tampa Bay’s cornerback situation is a nightmare with Ronde Barber on the decline and Aqib Talib facing off-field issues. Claiborne would bring to Tampa the best man-to-man cover skills in the 2012 class, along with good speed and instincts.

Normally I think Todd McShay is retarded (I like Mayock)...
and I don’t like his MIN selection. STL could go Kalil (or off in some other direction like a Blackmon) and MIN could easily take Blackmon if he was still there. CLE could easily go with Trent Richardson. Lots of wildcards at the top and we are still mocking pre-combine with all of this (outside Andrew Luck) and it could jumble up quickly.
Also, anybody else that selects before WAS is trade bait for RG3, because you know very well Mike Shanahan must be salivating at the thought of getting his hands on RG3.
For some odd reason my gut tells me the Browns pass on RG3.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
