I'd love Nicks but I don't see it
If Kalil falls to us I’d take him over any other player in this draft, unless he’s falling because of injury or something weird like that. So, how ferocious would our line be if we got Kalil, Nicks, and Chris Myers? Drool…. That is not happening, but man that’d be a hellish line.
What blocking schemes for the power run offense works against the 8 man front?
Defense would have to start with an 8 man front and stay that way all game long. Maybe Free could hit some open receivers somewhere like downfield every now and then. Nice dream.
HOU is going to re-sign C Chris Myers...
or I would have suggested that earlier. Just a formality really…

There are others to pursue that would be upgrades for us...
and OT Marcus McNeill (SD) is someone I hope we are monitoring closely. There is buzz that he will become a salary-cap casualty in SD, and he would plug-and-play here nicely. We clearly have the money, and could easily just claim him off waivers at his current salary (whatever it is).
At OG, there is still Ben Grubbs (BAL), Evan Mathis (PHI) and Andre Gurode (Bal) among others. The C position is something I hope we draft for (Peter Konz in Round 2) but we shall see. Faine is a weak, high-priced, and brittle link in the middle of our line

Bucs fans I am so sorry
I grew up in Ft. Myers and went to school at USF, I have a special place in my heart for the Bucs, I will always root for them (unless its against the giants) and take a vested interest in whatever the Bucs do. I loved signing Freeman, I loved the Schiano signing and I have liked most of the personnel decisions made. Most…
Bill Sheridan will destroy your defense. I was founder of the “Fire Bill Sheridan Fan Club” back when he was with the Giants. Just reading above makes me believe he hasnt changed.
Couple of things:
1 – He will run Schiano’s Defense, that is because he doesnt have a defense… One of the biggest issues with the Giants, he tried to run Spags defense after Spags left. He fell flat on his face, Spags = Very good Defensive Coordinator, B.S. – Not so much
2 – He believes in bringing pressure. Sure he does, everyone does, he just doesnt know how to do it… Biggest example of this, He tried to bring pressure with the front 4. when other teams started Mass protecting, he switched to the new, “Vogue” Pleceba defense… where he had DE’s and DT’s standing up not in position, only to send 4 against a max protect scheme. No blitz… he believes in bringing pressure as long as it doesnt include blitzing. Which brings me to my next point.
3- When in doubt, he goes back to the 3- man rush and zone umbrella scheme… This is the biggest thing with me, this is when I lost it… You have defensive players that love being aggressive.. build pride around it… get their swagger from it.. He consistently took that away from his own players by making CB’s play 10 yards off the LOS, by consistently going into a cover 3, by having DE drop into coverage… why you ask?? because that is what spags did… He had no comprehesion of why he was running certain plays, just that this is what spags did and he was trying to emulate spags…
I really hope he has changed. I hope he isnt running a defense a certain way because someone else says so. I really like rooting for the Bucs and being able to watch them on T.V. in Orlando. I really hope Schiano knows what he is doing. If he hasnt changed, I feel really sorry for you guys.
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
Hmmmm. Interesting.
Honestly i just hope he can at least fix the run defense.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
Schiano will fix the run defense
That is just gap control and gap discipline… Control and Discipline where what Schiano preached at Rutgers… That is what he stands for, which is what the Bucs desperately need. They have the talent…
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
What good is fixing the run
If other teams are killing you with the pass, I don’t even think teams tried to run on us, they just bombed us into oblivion when Sheridan was with us. Seriously bad hire.
Respect all fear none.

And another Giants fan shows up to bash Sheridan
I’ve never seen anything like this. I was already pretty down on this hire, but post after post from giants fans are going to send me into a deep depression.
dont be down
A lot Giants fans live in florida, and root for the Bucs along with me… We are just scared for you.
Bill Sheridan if anything is a good to great linebacking coach. Maybe he pieced it together.. Hopefully he pieced it together.

Ya I know
My wife is from Staten Island, so we had some happiness in the house over the giants win.
I’m just scared for us. On the plus side, I’ve been loving the offensive hires.
offensively you got a great thing going on
Kevin Gilbride is a genius at playcalling, sure he is frutrating to watch, easy to call for his head, but its all part of a plan. Sullivan has been his understudy for a while now. Before being a QB Coach, Sully was the WR coach under Gilbride..
If Freeman can pick up just 30-50% of what Sully will teach him, you guys will have absolutely no problems scoring points.
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
+1
Sullivan deserves his shot, good hire, Sheridan not so much.
Respect all fear none.

Pretty sure that if your running someone else’s defense incorrectly changes can be made to fix the problem pretty swiftly if they are still with the team. Still seems like a spot holder for Davis anyways. Not worried.
I think it may be deeper than just the financials which is what everyone is focused on. Maybe Davis doesn’t want to dishonor the contract and further damage his college relations or maybe the Glazers are being cheap – who knows. All we know is Sheridan is the new DC running the defense Schiano wants him to run. Doesn’t seem like he can totally screw up in this situation
Dishonoring the contract is what he is doing now
by fake coaching to still get paid. If he wanted to honor it, he’d have been bought out and our DC so UNC wouldn’t have to pay him. And, sorry, but I am not happy about the situation at all. I do not want a figurehead DC with puppet strings.
Thats one explanation
and if he’s just looking to stay involved in football without having to get as deeply involved as being a coordinator?
Or waiting to see if the NCAA investigation leads to a show cause sanction before committing to his next coaching gig?
He’s a good coach lots of shades in his current situation I’ll wait and see

If that is the deal
Then I am down with it. Give Sheridan a chance to redeem himself as a coordinator, if he fails at least Davis has had time to give “input” into his defense, so that way when he is ready, all the pieces are there.
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
Here is the real problem with Sheridan
He has no defensive philosiphy of his own and he has zero personality, which means he doesn’t inspire his players to play hard for him, he just tells them what to do.
The reason you guys see so many Giant fans over hear bashing the guy is becasue he lost the players, the last 6 games of the 2009 season will be burned in my memory forever becasue I never seen players just quit on a coach like that.
Respect all fear none.
