Buccaneers cut Albert Haynesworth
Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Bucs have cut defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Not a huge surprise as Haynesworth was due to collect seven million bucks this season.
With Gerald McCoy and Brian Price back to full strength next year, it would be hard for Greg Schiano and Mark Dominik shelling out that kind of cash for the limited production that the big man is putting up at this stage of his career.
Haynesworth didn't play horribly in his brief stint in Tampa, but displayed an almost epic lack of gap discipline last year. Steve White had a few entertaining words to say regarding Haynesworth's value during the season.

Yes
He was cut in time. Its a shame though, if he were half the price he is now, I would say keep him. But hes not. Bye Fat Albert.
I think that is the point. They want to claim him off waivers and get him at half the price.

I think he should be brought back - at a reduced price.
He could play a rotation role well with a full training camp.

Depends on who else is available in FA.
If there’s a decent 3rd tier FA out there to provide depth, that’d probably be better then taking a flyer on Haynesworth returning to form. There may not be many/any top tier DTs on the market atm, but there should be plenty of depth guys available.
Up to 7 million

Not sure how many other teams will be pursuing him...
when Belichick gives up – most others are wary.

The difference to me is...
you know the beast is still down in there somewhere. Its just a matter of bringing it out. Most other DTs we could sign NEVER had a beast to begin with.

But if he gets like a mil a year then thats fair and maybe that beast can come out

He was mostly a liability
He’s not worth bringing back. Especially considering the fact that he’ll be 31. Defensive tackles don’t last that long anyway.
The only strange thing about this to me is that we don't have a DC yet
I don’t think that would have saved him or anything, but shouldn’t we have the DC in place to at least give some input on these decisions?
In the interim, I'll trust Schiano enough to make these D decisions.
I still strongly believe — and Schiano has said as much — that we need a D coordinator, and we’ll have one. But in the interim, I have no problem with our defensive-minded head coach making calls on D personnel.
That said, this was simple financial call and nothing more. The $ don’t equal the productivity.

Ya, I guess
This was a no brainer, but it is still really bothering me that we don’t have a DC yet and we’re starting to make some very important decisions.
App On My Phone said we're interviewing Ohio St. Assistant Bill Sheridan for DC

No No No
I remember when he was D/C for the Giants he was terrible how you think Perry Fewell got the job so quickly our defense will be terrible aww hell naw
I Maybe Wrong But I Doubt It
Randy Shannon
If we are digging this low for a DC,Why haven’t they atleast interviewed Randy Shannon..I mean he is sort of Inexperienced but with Davis and Schiano he should be ok..My only worry on him is his layed back attitude I dont think he could Fire up our defense to play with a edge Late in the 4th QT. but check out these ranks while he was DC at UM…

as a Giants fan
that is the last person in the world you want as a Defensive Coordinator!!!
Zone all the way, sometimes sending a 3 man rush while in 4-3, and then expect the latest “vogue” defense to be thrown in there.
I wish that hell upon no enemy and I love the Bucs..
Regardless of what happens, No playoffs, playoffs, no superblow, superblow.... The 2011/2012 is one of my favorite Giants Teams of all time.
If...
We decided to bring him back it would probably be for about 1.5 Million, so it won’t kill the cap at all. I rather him comeback as a backup for that price than TB paying him the 7 million he was going to get paid before he got cut to do the same thing
I Maybe Wrong But I Doubt It
You have to wonder how motivated he would be playing for $1.5M. He phoned it in while he was getting paid $$$ in Washington.

At this point in his career Haynesworth should be happy he's getting a chance anywhere.

We need to give Jeff faine the same treatment - but don't re-sign him.
We can locate a better C via F/A or draft one late.
