Draft? FA?

2012 Draft holds many juniors which you have not seen totally prove themselves but were not gonna get to in to that just throwing that out there for you all anyways.

1:Claiborne

2:Burfict

3:James

those are the top 3 that I think we should draft Claiborne will take away the need for 2 FA corners Burfict from ASU will push Foster to week OLB we should also pick up Dan Connors in the FA McNabb, Bowe, Grant, and Nicks over Grubbs getting Carl Nicks will handi-cap the Saints which if any one forgot a division rivalry we should also push Zuttah to Center.

Tell me what you think.

Does there need to be like a million fanposts on FA and the draft?

what else can we talk about?

exactly………….Nothing.
Same thing with the articles. its just FA, draft and coaching. and coaching is rather boring after a while.

All of this will liven up after the Combine...

because the “draft talk” will become more reasonable about who is likely to go where, etc.

Why don't you write a unique and original fanpost?

We could use some unique and original ideas over there.

So once again i will ask to another person who wants Claiborne

You would take drafting Claiborne over…. Grimes and Finnegan? (and this isnt even the best duo we could get in FA)

ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!

by dcbucsfan on Feb 13, 2012 1:26 PM EST up reply actions

I am for Claiborne

I would want all 3 you mentioned actually. Realistically we may get 1 “big name CB”, 1 middle of the road guy and draft MoBorne.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 13, 2012 2:18 PM EST up reply actions

I just think 3 CBs are just too much.

And I have a feeling that because our need is great at CB, I HOPE we address the needs with experienced good CBs. If we add 2 CBs i would be content with that as far as with our secondary. Getting Claiborne would be a luxury pick, in my opinion. If we only landed 1 CB then its a stronger case for Claiborne

We need 3

unless Talib doesnt go to prison, we NEED 3

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 10:01 AM EST up reply actions

i disagree

we dont need 3 star CBs. I dont want a Eagles thing going on. With 3 pro bowl CBs it just didnt work out. I would be fine with Biggers, Mack or Lewis being the 3rd CB. I defintely wouldn’t want Claiborne to be our 3rd CB. If he comes in he has to come in immediately and start. And even if we play him there for a limited time at 3rd Cb and then he ends up being the starter later on, we would be switching one of the FA CBs and that really would just be a waste of a FA pickup. And i trust the available FA CB’s over Claiborne right now. Just my opinion.

Biggers gets a bad rap especially. I think im going to make a fan post about him. But i think he will be fine as the #3 cb

The guy wouldn’t make my practice squad much less get field time against professionals. They was an easy target and he plays like a girl, runs with that limp wristed style. He just doesnt have IT.

Top-end D-backs seem to cost a huge premium in Free Agency
I definitely want the Bucs to get one. But putting out that much coin for two when we have so many holes to fill…

It depends on what’s available at what price.

by CelticPride on Feb 13, 2012 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

There will be many other teams looking for top CBs this year...

the more the NFL trend of “throw first” continues, the more the premium rises for good CBs and other DBs. I personally prefer the HOU, BAL, SF way of building a team.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 9:34 AM EST up reply actions

Thats the problem

its going to raise the proce of CB’s significantly, fortunately we are in a good position to make offers based on availabel cap space.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 10:02 AM EST up reply actions

Having tons of cap room...

and actually using it are 2 different things. We are kinda like the Wal-Mart shoppers of the F/A market. It didn’t cost very much – and it doesn’t work very well.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 2:56 PM EST up reply actions

Lol

I agree, but I think this year is different. I think it is a necessity to spend, otherwise we cant compete in a tough division/league.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 3:02 PM EST up reply actions

Let's hope Dom/The Glazers have seen the error of their ways...

and make the commitment to do something about it. Trading money for self-respect and civic pride is a sad state of affairs. The Glazers already have more money than they could ever spend.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 3:26 PM EST up reply actions

this is a business

everyone team owner in the league wants the best product for the lowest price to make the most profit, thats just business. But I think the glazers realize as well they need to spend some money to make money.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 3:39 PM EST up reply actions

I understand the business aspect...

what I don’t understand is letting something you own, and supposedly love, turn to dust before your very eyes. This behavior says a lot more about the Glazers than their wallet size does.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 4:36 PM EST up reply actions

at this point cost really doesnt matter when we have the money to spend.

i would take two good available FA CBs over just drafting Claiborne. You fill two holes immediately, and have more options to fill other holes in the draft.

ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!

I just

cant see us passing on MoBorne if he is available.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 10:03 AM EST up reply actions

We simply NEED 3

Ronde is getting old, Talib is off to be someones GF, Biggers is lucky he has a job. Who else on our roster would you start? Exactly. We NEED 3. either in FA or draft or a combo, but expect we Fa 2 and draft MoBorne. Unless something ridiculous happens like someone wants to trade up with us and offer us a boat load of pics in which I still think we pursue next best CB

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 10:39 AM EST up reply actions

Pretty decent

We would like get 1 “big name” and a middle of the road guy then draft 1. That is the likely scenario, of course who we get as DC will play a role also but I would go with 3 this off season, unless something drastic happens like lets say, The charges are dropped against Talib.

true

But I think once they meet with Schiano and see the culture change and meet with glazernik for a high offer, they may consider it. Plus once we get a splash signing the stage is set.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 15, 2012 8:16 AM EST up reply actions

Like those as first 3

As draft picks, Really what happens in FA ould further clarify our needs. Plus 3/5/12 is the last day teams can franchise tag their players so that will give us a clearer picture for who is going to hit the market as an FA. then the bidding war begins 3/14/12. Go Bucs!!

We need to

We simply cant compete with the same train of thought as before, I think Schiano is good at evaluating talent and getting people to play for him. But he cant lead what we have now because we simply lack defensive talent and NEED to get starters in FA or draft. Expect both to happen.

Thats the thing

Last year I would have agreed with you, this year ownership can’t risk not investing into a better product without losing the wind completely in their sails so to speak. Expect them to spend more freely than they have, especially with a new ccoach and philiosophy in place. They will fill the holes since the “build form the draft experiment” failed miserably. They cant support a PRO NFL team without FA spending, you cant compete in this league without FA.

they run in the red

in operating an empty stadium plus regional losses. All of that hurts the bottom line period. A good business man makes money EVERY way he can not “Oh well dont worry about filling seats” if thats the case then they would fire their season tix and ticket sales force and save even more. Makes poor business sense not to sell tickets. Also in business you have to invest your money to make more back FACT. They will spend this year, they need to revitalize this fan base or risk losing it.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 13, 2012 4:18 PM EST up reply actions

Combine

His abilities will shine in the combine. One thing that will hold him back will be the interviews. I’ve heard his football IQ is not the brightest, but it won’t need to be if he is playing for a great defensive system. I can’t see him dropping that far. Plus he has Ravens/Steeler written all over him with the way that he plays. Someone is taking a chance on him early.

by gusjackson on Feb 14, 2012 12:06 PM EST up reply actions

most people judge on the finish but not the decisions that player made to get there or in some cases failed to make. He often looks lost and doesnt seem to grasp the game. I like the idea to draft both their is so much talent on defense in free agency and also we dont even really need any d-lineman were strong their and its weak in the fa at that position move bennet to dt with mccoy and bowers and clayborne outside

by buccaneers44 on Feb 14, 2012 11:13 AM EST up reply actions

Not likely to happen

I dont see us breaking the bank on a slew (sp) of defensive FA’s, we should be getting maybe 3-5 total but a mix between defense and offense. Then supplement through the draft. Their is no need to for 3 starting quality backs its just not smart personel decision making, we dont have the luxury to do that. Far too many other needs.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 10:03 AM EST up reply actions

Honestly

I think James would work better with a zone run scheme type of team, or a team where the QB is a real threat like a Tom Brady, Rodgers type. He’s like a Danny Woodhead type guy. He could be dangerous if the defense doesnt key in on him. But if they concentrate on him they will make him ineffective.

ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!

by dcbucsfan on Feb 14, 2012 10:29 AM EST up reply actions

Too many backs

If your going to do the free agency for defense draft for offense strategy. That first pick would have to be an OL. Then we would have to sprinkle some receivers and tight ends in the mix.

by gusjackson on Feb 14, 2012 12:10 PM EST up reply actions

That would be straight if we address the o-line and d-back situation correctly through FA. Knowing our management that won’t happy so I’ll be fine with just tr.

they were both smaller and slower, but solidly-built RBs (kinda like Trent Richardson)

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 3:03 PM EST up reply actions

Trent Richardson is probably stronger that either of them ever were.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 3:28 PM EST up reply actions

ok just checking

and he is stronger because HGH has come a looooong way lol.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 3:41 PM EST up reply actions

No, the list is greater than that - just making a point.

MJD has been around past that “5 year” wall, as has Michael Turner, Frank Gore and Ricky Williams. DUKES tries to make it sound absolute, and so much so that no such investment should even be considered. Rediculous.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 15, 2012 9:42 AM EST up reply actions

Thats also rare

compared to how many RB’s are done in less than 10 years. Compare that to CB’s where many go into 10+ year careers.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 15, 2012 9:59 AM EST up reply actions

Not really trying to compare the CB to RB argument...

but what I am trying to say is that IF Morris Claiborne is gone (he is my personal 1st choice) and the RG3 trade option is gone (I think it will happen – but before Pick 5) then RB Trent Richardson is likely the best remaining player that can impact our team.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 15, 2012 11:45 AM EST up reply actions

But it isn't that much greater

For every one that has a great career past the 5 year mark, there are many who don’t. I’ve never said Richardson shouldn’t be considered, but I just can’t take him over Claiborne unless we completely reinvent this defense in free agency. And even then, I’m not positive I’d take him over Blackmon and the top OTs. I’m starting to sour on Blackmon a little, less because of the claims of him being overrated and more because I think we need a different sort of receiver (like Kendall Wright if he’s there in the 2nd?).

by aakks on Feb 15, 2012 10:19 AM EST up reply actions

Steven Jackson is a very big guy - and a beast at his position

he is pretty worn down in the same manner RB James Wilder was worn down here in the 80s. That “5 years and done” figure is impacted by many variables, which is why I wanted DUKES to put his stats where his mouth is. RB is a very competitive position, and how many players drafted as a RB last 1 or 2 seasons before being replaced by someone better? That skews that RBs last 5 years stat quite a bit. I hate when people take some facts, add in a whole lot of their opinion, and make an absolute statement about it.

Nonsensical.

Agree about Claiborne

Disagree about Burfict- unless we pick him off of the remainders rack, he’s not worth the investment. LMJ is one of several R-backs who could be a great fit for us- my philosophy towards running back in this draft is to take the BPA in the third, possibly the second if Lamar Miller falls that far and there isn’t a great fit/value for us amongst the O-line and linebacker prospects.

I know he’s mocked to us all the time, but I just don’t see it at that spot. Too early. If Konz drops to us I turn in the draft card in 3 seconds flat.

The bigger question is what to do if Zach Brown, Peter Konz, and Mike Adams all fall to #36. That would be a tough choice.

Hmmm

interesting situation if thats the case, “question you have Zach Brown, Peter Konz, and Mike Adams on the board what do you do? What do you DO?”- in my best Keanu Reves voice.

Is it too early for Dwayne Allen

If we can pick up a linebacker and cb in FA and get claiborne in the 1st? I understand we have more pressing needs RB, Gaurd, Safety, etc.. but an athletic TE is pretty much a staple in todays game and K2 isn’t anymore

Why are y’all so obsessed with morris

by cdubbw on Feb 14, 2012 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

Exactly

He will make our defense beter, we cant afford to let our secondary have starters like biggers or mack competing in a division with precision passers and expect that we can even slow them down. So what if we can run the ball with richardson when teams can just go over top and set records against us AGAIN!!!!!! The reasonable people are understading that MoBorne is not our savior he is the piece to a bigger puzzle but he is a KEY factor and could help us more than any RB in the draft could.

I agree i would too

But this is the Glazers. so a history has shown we will most likely not spend much money in FA. The majority of the cap money will be spent on re-signing players like Freeman to a long-term deal if he shows promise still. I don’t think their are any FA CB’s that are worth signing though.

by Bucstar55 on Feb 14, 2012 4:08 PM EST reply actions

Freeman

Is still under contract, there are some good FA CB’s available, this is actually a good year for CB’s and WR’s. I would like to see us get both.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 4:11 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

I think we re-sign him this year though, to a long-term deal. I would love to see us sign a FA WR but I don’t think the Glazers will sign a Big time FA CB. I really hope we draft Mo Claiborne and re-sign Ronde

by Bucstar55 on Feb 14, 2012 4:21 PM EST reply actions

Ronde

May not come back, plus hes getting old. I think we will be far more active this year than in previous years.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 4:24 PM EST up reply actions

I hope

Every year I think that. I’ll believe it when i see it. lol but theres no way we can be as inactive as we were last year.

Well

Glazernik made a proclamation publicly that they would, so I dont think they will be able to back out of that. Fans will go nuts if they dont deliver. Things are bad enough as it is.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 14, 2012 4:29 PM EST up reply actions

I for some odd unproven reason trust Glazernik this year in off-season

also I think we’ll get it done with Schiano and win expecting 7-9 at least in 2012 and 10-6 at worst from 2013 on
