I think everyone here

Knows we are either going corner or richardson first. What do we do after that, and who are some intriguing names that will be nice to have in the later rounds

If Trueblood can play Guard (or if we get one in FA), I would not be unhappy with Reiff.

I’d rather have Claiborne, assuming he can tackle and is a fit for whatever defense we run. As far as picking Reiff, I’m reminded of a comment about the Rams back when they were in LA. Somebody was worried about what would happen if their feature back went down, and the comment was “The janitor could run for 1000 yards behind that line”. A strong(er) OLine will make everything better. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that our top 3 needs (in order) are CB, OG, ILB/OLB.

by MRWright88 on Feb 13, 2012 11:01 AM EST up reply actions

What if we draft Konz at center?

If he pans out as great as projected the Bucs could have 3 pro-bowl calibre offensive linemen!!! Defenses would have to stack the box leaving Williams, Benn and Parker plenty of room for seperation while K-2 continues to do his thing.

by Chengdu Buc on Feb 13, 2012 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

this would be good but not in the first round.

We could actual get more separation by receivers if Freeman can learn to buy more time and move around in the pocket a la Big Ben too.

Thinking the power run game would open up.

Going up the middle would be a different story making DL’s play for the run game instead of attacking Free. That gives Free another couple of seconds to find receivers. And with an OC who can actually create an offense and enhance Free’s abilities, well, you know….

by Chengdu Buc on Feb 13, 2012 12:18 PM EST up reply actions

We can get by this year

with the line we have, I’m in a greement that we could use some upgrades but the OL is not a NEED. We NEED defenseive players in the worst way, dont be surprised to see FA dn draft be heavy for that side of the call minus a couple of KEY positions like WR on offense.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 13, 2012 2:09 PM EST up reply actions

Agree with GoBucsGo

OL was not the greatest this year, especially at end of year when everyone gave up. But that had a pretty good beginning of year. But it’s not our biggest need. If we had some star power on O (ie receiver that can create separation and/or be a deep threat, TE who can catch opposite Winslow, good complementary back to Blount (spelled type of playmaker) I think Freeman can make plays. Giants won Superbowl without a great O line. Plus our new OC will be training Freeman on how to make plays and good decisions, while
under pressure.

by gmaz1 on Feb 13, 2012 5:21 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

i agree If josh were to get back to 2010 play where he move in the pocket more

also running aliitle more. We’ve never had the best O-line even when we won the superbowl. But when josh came he gave us more flexibilty because he could get out the pocket. That’s how he found Kellen open half the time off the run last year.

Exactly

Mock drafts at this point are stupid..it’s fun to speculate before the draft but these Mocks mean nothing at all..after the F/A period begins/ends all of these mocks will look tremendously different

Fire up that Blount!

by TampaBayAllTheWayFromCaliforni-A on Feb 13, 2012 12:40 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

We do know the last two drafts were Defensive Line.

How about offensive line this time? Go for the best center or guard and hope he is pro-bowl calibre in 1st round, then the best tackle in second round with an ILB in 3rd. Without a great O-Line it doesn’t matter who runs the ball. They’ll get beaten up. So, double-dip on OL this draft.

by Chengdu Buc on Feb 13, 2012 12:31 PM EST up reply actions

I lol'ed
It would be pretty stupid if he was a bad fit.

SN: I liked RotoWorld’s write up on Justin Blackmon. They described exactly why we shouldn’t get him. Any one who thinks he should be our top option should re-evaluate their football prowess. Also, I would not be mad if we picked up Orson Charles in any round other than the first. K2 is Free’s favorite target, but he is declining rapidly. Why not get his replacement now? It’s not like Stocker has impressed anyone ever at the NFL level. He would be a good alternative to a playmaking WR like Kendall Wright.

Luke Stocker, considering his initial cost to get him (2 4th Round picks)...

has been an amazing disappointment. He will likely never be considered a “good” investment of 2 draft selections. Dom…, ugh! Either of the ARK WRs would be a nice way to stretch the field, as I still fully believe this is one of our biggest issues on offense. We will all know a lot more after we see the “number crunching” the combine provides.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 13, 2012 10:35 AM EST up reply actions

yea im not for Blackon for us.

Hes ok but not great in my eyes. I give Stocker one more year. Also Marciellus Bennett is a FA from Dallas. I like him. Not used enough in Dallas, and he could come and play with his brother Michael in Tampa.

The kid only played one season

In which he was hurt, give the guy a chance.

by keysersoze19 on Feb 13, 2012 10:41 AM EST via Android app reply actions

Unfortunately for Luke Stocker...

Dom’s blunder in giving up an additional 4th Round pick to acquire him, has given the selection a stigma that may never be satisfied. He will need to perform in such a manner that justifies that expense, or he will continue to be criticized. Not his fault – but he will pay the price for it.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 13, 2012 10:53 AM EST up reply actions

I agree.

I still dont understand moving up to get him

ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!

by dcbucsfan on Feb 13, 2012 11:18 AM EST up reply actions

I wonder

If Olsen or Morris had anything to do with that? Maybe a “get him we need him”?? Who knows. Yeah don’t see the value in Stocker, I think he should get another year or two but otherwise, BUST move on.

by Gobucsgo on Feb 13, 2012 11:48 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah

Not looking good for the kid but then again, Olsen was a drab OC and clearly did not know how to use the talent he had so maybe, and thats a big MAYBE, he will get proper utiliziation from Schiano/Sullivan

by Gobucsgo on Feb 13, 2012 1:27 PM EST up reply actions

It is not fair

To say if moving up to get him was a good or bad move based on how his season played out.

by keysersoze19 on Feb 13, 2012 11:43 AM EST via Android app reply actions

Yeah, not understand the animosity toward a guy that's barely played.

Let alone been a focal point of the offense. Happy to give him a second chance, but I do agree that we should look for another TE moreso to offset an aging Winslow than anything else.

Follow me @worldwidemaldo.

by jMagic09 on Feb 13, 2012 12:03 PM EST up reply actions

The animocity should be directed at Dom...

He is the fool that basically gave away an extra 4th Round pick. Luke Stocker did nothing except be selected, but it will always be a weight he will carry here – fairly or unfairly.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 13, 2012 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

You act as if that's some huge burden

I mean, I didn’t like the trade when it happened, but it’s not like a fourth round pick is worth that much.

by Sander on Feb 13, 2012 6:19 PM EST up reply actions

But it is an extra chance to hit big on someone

I like bennett here with his brother

by Carlitin1988 on Feb 13, 2012 6:27 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

I think it IS a big deal Sander - considering the volume of our needs.

Lots of good football players left in the 4th Round. We need every pick we can get our hands on BECAUSE Dom does not hit on every one – not even close. Those middle and late round selections is exactly what separates the men from the boys in GM land.

Dom is a child compared to Ozzie Newsome, Bill Polian, etc. Still wet behind the ears.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 9:25 AM EST up reply actions

Mark Dominik has done a much better job drafting than Polian or Newsome in the three years he's been here

I don’t disagree that you can find good players in the fourth round (tho doing so structurally is very, very hard), but you’re acting like it’s impossible to live up to costing two fourth rounders.

by Sander on Feb 14, 2012 9:33 AM EST up reply actions

I am acting like it was incredibly stupid to give it up in the first place...

which it was. It’s not like any of us can fix that, but it illustrates the level of competency Dom occasionally illustrates. Again, outside the “obvious” early selections, Dom is marginal at best.

by Cracker Ball on Feb 14, 2012 9:41 AM EST up reply actions

I feel like everyone is either labeled overrated or underrated.

Not everyone needs to fall into that category.

Plenty of guys that we are looking at are neither.

Claiborne and Richardson, also Luck and RG3. There are many examples.

Richardson

Look at Eddie Lacy had 95 attempts average 7.1 yards per carry J Fowler 53 attempts 6.9 yards per carry T Richardson 283 attempts 5.8 yards per carry that speeks alot for the O LINE
