Buccaneers Free Agency Selections.
I think we should target a whole new set of starting defensive players as well as some solid offensive players. What do you think of this list:
Ryan Grant
LaRon Landry
Brent Grimes/Brandon Carr
DeSean Jackson/Dwayne Bowe
Stephen Tulloch/Curtis Lofton
Carl Nicks/Ben Grubbs
Jared Gaither
I know some/most of them aren't the nicest looking bunch, but hey, it would definitely be an improvement on the previous year.
Just quickly on Ryan Grant: People don't see Ryan Grant as a quick running back, but he ran a solid 4:43 40 time in 2005. Considering LeGarrette ran a 4.59, I think he'd be a nice 3rd down running back. Also, people seem to think Grant is no good, he has played three seasons of more than 1 game in the season in his career, and two were for 1,200+ yards. The other season (2007) he got only 7 games as a starter, but ran for 956 yards at 5.1 per carry. I think this is just what we need. Plus, he fits the Glazer's style: Cheap.
Tell me what you think.

Carr over Grimes
Bowe over Jackson
Tulloch over Lofton
Nicks over Grubbs
I am a strong believer in Carl Nicks because getting him will hurt the Saints
But Nicks wants a big contract.
And Grubbs, what an OL name! I wonder what kind of money he wants. Move Zuttah to center and get the best OT we can. Would be a great O-Line.

But who cares if Nkicks wants a BIG contract
we got like 62 mil in cap space, i don’t mind over paying a little, if the guy helps us AND hurts the saints

I agree with almost all of them, except Carr over Grimes. I’d have Grimes because it would annoy the
Yeah But Carr is younger and Bigger
I think Grimes will be 29 when season starts Carr is only 25 with Carr and Drafting Claiborn I think We’ll be Good

Everyone see that
Randy Moss wants to play again? Not worth it and don’t want him here but just wanted to mention it since it could affect FA since some teams will likely take a look at him.
Might be enough
for some teams to say “we will let so and so go, get Moss and go for broke this year” leaving a possibly talented so and so open for us to grab. Worth mentioning for that reason only.
I like Landry
But I worry about the injury
I think I’d prefer Ladarius Webb to Grimes
I know we need another RB – but I think the draft is the way to go there.
ummmm i like
ronnie brown or ray rice-RB
laron landry or michael griffen-FS
courtland finnegan or leon hall-CB
Ahmad Brooks or lawrence timmons-LB
dwayne bowe or V-Jack

Yessir!
I like the way you think. The “ors” are right on the money with all. Not sure about the LB though.
Ray Rice is NOT hitting FA under any circumstances
There are just some players that you would like your team to get, but know it’s not going to happen so you automatically eliminate them..
We want the ball, and we're gonna score!
WOA WOA WOA
HOLD UP A SEC… There are some major flaws in your list, a couple decent ones to keep an eye on, and some so obvious that all 32 teams want…
FIrst of all, noone should be interested in two players…….. Cortland Finegan and Desean Jackson NEED to keep trouble in their respective cities… the issues the buccaneers face is their maturity and level headedness as well as living up to expectations, which means the last thing we need are two lose cannons in the locker room.. Please, STAY IN TENNESSEE AND PHILIDELPHIA…. i will have a harder time ruiting for this team with them on the roster……………………………………..
Next, EVERYONE, I MEAN EVERYONE, wants Carl Nicks.. he could be quite possibly the greatest LG ive seen in my life time.. the dude is insane and so powerfull… he likely wont stay with new orleans just because i dont think they have enough money, but i dont see tampa getting their hands on him, strickly because their odds go down when theres so many hands in the pot.
we dont need a broken old rb like ryan grant.
tampas offensive line fits the style that they have been aquireing for a while and if they kept running with blount up the middle, like they did in specific situations throughout last season, they would have more success… blount plays a possition i feel is unfortuantely becoming lost but he is so good.. quick? no. he never clamed to be.. cheap isnt what were focused on this year though and while a HALF back still could become increasingly valuable with speed, blount is going to where defenses out next year so dont write his 4.59 off so early…..
I’m not claiming Grant is a permanent solution, but I’d like to have him come to training camp at the very least, see if he still has it. His numbers are not bad, and he would be an opposite style of runner to Blount. Grant is hardly broken, and he’s only 29, we could pick him up for peanuts and see what he’s able to do.
Can we all agree Schiano is all about discipline and TBA? That’s why I’d like to get DeSean Jackson and I never even mentioned Cortland Finnegan by the way. DeSean Jackson is a physical specimen and needs to limit his drops and stay out of trouble. Schiano’s discipline hopefully should deter him from making any stupid decisions. The rest of the NFL’s teams would not want to go for him because of the off-field issues. So, I’d like to get him.
And in regards to Carl Nicks, I agree and I think we’d be more than happy to pay him maximum money.
Ryan Grant is a role player - a 3rd down back with great hands out of the backfield...
and would welcome him here for that reason. His cost would be managable and his needed contributions here would be great. He is not the starting RB we want splitting time with Blount, but his versatility would be a great add.

That's the thing: I believe he can be.
I agree with all of your reasoning, but I think he can become a 8-10 snap a game player, who can get out wide and make some good catches on third and 5 or less. Worst case scenario, he’s a dud and I’m wrong. So what? We’ve burnt 1/63 million in cap space.
My free agent wish list
Brandon Carr
Carlos Rogers
Michael Griffin
Michael Bush
Ben Grubbs
Dwayne Bowe
Laurent Robinson
D’Qwell Jackson
That’s not too much to ask is it?

A bit much.
Im with you on Carr and Rogers and maybe D’Qwell Jackson and Griffin. Bowe will get tagged and ill say no to the rest.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
They can only franchise one player
and a lot of people think that will be Carr. I’ll take whichever one they don’t franchise.

Brandon Carr
Carlos Rogers
Michael Griffin
Michael Bush →Benjarvus Green-Ellis
Ben Grubbs
Dwayne Bowe →Robert Meacham
Laurent Robinson
D’Qwell Jackson → Stephen Tulloch
Six great free agent pickups is unlikely to happen. I would be happy if we even got 3 of these guys and continue our building though the draft @ CB, OL, LB.
There is no reason we can't at least pursue those guys...
especially Tulloch, Meacham, Grubbs and Brandon Carr. That would STILL leave half of the cap space.
