Jason La Canfora reporting we got denied again on DC hire:
Via Twitter:
TB denied permission to talk to 49ers DBs coach Ed Donatell for DC job. At least third coordinator prospect to be denied on #insideslant

When
will the league address this issue? I think any man should not be denied a promotional opportunity for any job! this position coaches under cnotract can be C-blocked by their teams is garbage. This rule needs to change. For the leagues improvement and the coaches.
The problem then arises of how to define a promotion
Because teams toy around with the duties and titles of assistants, a lot, and they’d certainly try to skirt the line there if they thought it’d get them a coach.
while I do agree
I think OC or DC should be considered a clear promotion over any position coach position…

Then why have contracts?
If it’s a free-for-all, man-to-the-highest bidder every year how would a team have any stabiity in it’s coaching structure without a way to protect it. Our SB coaching staff was poached and we never recovered. There has to be some balance between team stability and a process to allow a coach to move up.
Want to address the story of Schiano getting results in the classroom.
I think it will play a major role in the NFL. Can’t emphasize enough how much studying game film and understanding complex schemes goes into making a successful team. We often bemoaned the lack of discipline this past season, and this is a direct result of, what I see, as a lack of preparation and understanding. I think if Schiano, or any coach for that matter, can bring a more intellectual approach to the game and make our players smarter, than that’s worth a few more wins than last season.

great point
It is evolving more into a thinking mans game and Schiano embraces the thirst for knowledge. Love it!
Preparation
for class/game on par since there is a lot of behind the scenes studious activites that make the best teams be the best. That should transalate to better games time preparation.
Excellent point.
Raheem wanted his players to play smart but didn’t have the gravitas to educate them. Maybe that’s why the defense seemed to have just him tuned him out the more they lost.
I don't see anyone proclaiming anyone's genius
Your description of Schiano could easily fit Morris too. I think the point is schiano had to have players that not only met team performance standards but also the academic standards of the university. Maybe that will transfer to the NFL level in his ability to teach his players his schemes and the importance of preparation. Hopefully his coordinators will assist him in overcoming his game day shortcomings on play calling.
That knock was the theme
of some Rutgers fans that posted on here after the hire. Some of the sportswriters brought it up also. Don’t know it to be a fact. But,if true , I like his support staff so far.
But even some Rutgers fans
Said they didn’t know where some of these writers got this stuff since it was one incident he could remember and that wa son his OC not him. It had to do with clock management. But still nothing to show otherwise and even if he was at fault 1 incident in 11 years is still a solid track record.

If the new strategy for the Bucs is to “Run the ball and stop the run,” I’d say things are trending up for Trent Richardson at #5.
Not unless
We spend REALLY big in FA to fix out defense. Richardson is currently a luxury draft and not to mention You never draft a high risk position like RB that high up. Just doesn’t make sense. Be ready to welcome MoBorne (just made that up) lol.
