Linebackers
I have been looking through the list of free agent linebackers out there, and one of them comes to mind that nobody is really talking about. David Hawthorne from the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle's run defense was pretty well this season, and Hawthorne is one of the reasons why. I remember him getting a little buzz during 2010 but did not hear much about him this year. He has three straight seasons of over 100 tackles, and is only 26 years old, turning 27 before 2012 season starts. He should come cheaper than a Curtis Lofton, and is a bit younger than D'qwell Jackson. Also, for the outside linebacker position, there are guys like Manny Lawson and possibly Ahmad Brooks. Ahmad Brooks is a huge man, nearly 260 pounds, I think he would definitely help out in stopping the run.

Seahawks fans call him Heater
Decent linebacker, but nothing special. But that’s the case for most linebackers.
Curran
Whats with this guy Rennie Curran, I haven’t heard of him but he looks promising, has he played at all for us or is just a practice squad punching bag?
Brooks
would be nice, he is a big boy, D’Qwell will get tagged. Lofton may be worth the money, which we can afford. Hawthorne may be a stand out on our defense especially since he is always in on the play, I like that A LOT. So yeah get Hawthorne and Lofton, move some things around with our current LB’s and get rid of the dead weight, you knwo exactly who I’m talking about.
Not sure about Jackson
He probably will, but I do not think that is a guarantee yet.

Lofton
should be a main target for the bucs… but the biggest signing the bucs could get is Nicks from the saints or grubbs from the ravens our offense would be way better with either one of them starting at LG.
Help yourself - hurt a division opponent
That may make getting him a little tougher though, as he has been hating Buccaneers for a while.

No one hates a bigger payday
Makes it so much easier to overlook rivalry, plus it happens pretty frequently in the NFL.
i like brooks way better than lofton
when has stealing a player helped win a division for us lately, jeff faine anyone? seriously?

i agree, he's average..and that was my point.
let me run this scenario by you:
ahmad brooks, channing crowder (seeing how he’s now available) and mason foster as our LBs?
Blackburn is the better option in terms of availability
Crowder likely will to to TEN according to Miami Herald.
good post
I like your free agency options because they are realistic

Jackson, Hawthorne, Lofton, Brooks, Blackburn.
All would be an upgrade over Black and Hayes. If we could get at least one FA linebacker and draft another, we would be in a much better position.

Burfict will be a rookie I can make an exception for

If we can focus his immense talent, he could be a steal.
That’s a big IF.

Move Curtis Lofton?
No way he moves to outside linebacker he has been one of the better MLB in the league no point of moving him. Don’t think Schiano is going to put up or take a chance with a guy who has told his coaches previously to leave him alone and he would not come off the field.

If you can promise me
that and Brandon Carr, and Dre Kirkpatrick I would say our defense is good to go.
I'd be more apt to a combo of
Sam:Bradham
Mike:Lofton
Will:Foster

I like Dan Connor
think he would be a cheap but serviceable player. Nobody has been talking about Bradham either, I am curious to what round he gets projected to go in. He is the opposite of some of the linebackers to come out of FSU lately, big physical Linebacker who knows how to knock people out.

Bradham has had a negative stigma at FSU.
Up until this year, he took bad angles and lost too many angles. He put it together this year and was really solid. And he could be the hardest hitting linebacker in this draft. For those wondering, look up the Miami game hit this year (and yes it was a legal hit). I’m betting Bradham blows up the combine, especially the bench press and 40 time (wont be the fastest but will be fast for his size).
Hopefully his past will keep him in the third round, but if he moves up to a second round grade I would much rather him than anyone not named Kuechly or Zach Brown.
