I don't think that next week will tell us much at all.
Falcons have already clinched the number 1 seed and will probably have half an eye on the offseason. We just look an utter mess and I doubt we could stop Matt Ryan in his sleep at the moment! Losing Wright (0-5 without him) has been a bigger blow than anyone could have realised so I guess all we can do now is plug the gaps.
The good thing is when we have a fully fit roster we can easily make the post-season. The trouble is we've lost so many players that was never going to happen. The other problem is our secondary couldn't stop a snail at the moment so we won't ever cross that line unless that's sorted.
Free agency targets have to be Free Safety, Right Tackle and Cornerback, though the latter is only if we get rid of
Eric Wright. That's a possibility because of his nice little enforced winter holiday but depends on how the front office see things. If he goes, we need cover. We've looked shocking at right tackle this season and MD has already said he'll never draft an OL, so free agency it is. Penn will look a lot better when Nicks is back, and once we get Joseph back too we just need an RT to have the best OL in the NFC. The best Free Safety in the draft is Tony Jefferson, but I doubt we'll get him unless we trade up using one of our fourth round picks. Besides, we need to double up in rounds 1 and 2.
Rounds 1 and 2 have to be cornerbacks. If we don't double up here, MD wants showing the door there and then. We need a massive cull of corners (bye bye Myron!) and get some fresh talent in. Unless the
Titans win their last game and we lose (possible), I don't think we'll get Milliner as I think it's a cert that he goes to Tennessee. Therefpre I think Banks is a cert. I don't think anyone else is an option, unless the front office decide we need yet another defensive lineman, God help us!
Round 2 again we need a cornerback. There's three targets for me, and two may involve trading up. Target 1 has to be Xavier Rhodes. Trade up to get him. If he isn't there then we need to look at someone like Amerson or Poyer at a push. If they aren't looking a good option, then and only then do we take Tony Jefferson, though I'd rather us reach for another corner such as Trufant. If we go for Jefferson then we look at Logan Ryan in round 3 if he declares (some say he won't until 2014). If we go Corner and Corner in Rounds 1 and 2 (I think we need to badly) then look to trade up again in Round 3 and take Ryan Nassib if he's on the board to get competition for Josh.
Round 4 to 7 we need to look at getting some cover in at OLB, DT and maybe another Corner.
