10 Things We Think We Learned - Buccaneers - Chiefs

While many Bucs fans weren't surprised the Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the manner in which the beatdown was dealt did raise a few eyebrows.

GIF: Vincent Jackson Scores Second Touchdown as Bucs Blow Out Chiefs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to destroy the Kansas City Chiefs, as they're leading 38-10 at the end of the game.

So how did they get there? Here's the latest touchdown, a slant to Vincent Jackson who then broke a few tackles to get into the endzone. Doug Martin had set up that touchdown with several big runs during that drive. That Vincent Jackson touchdown was as easy as it gets. He didn't even have to run a slant, just kind of walk up, catch the ball, and scamper into the endzone.

That play is indicative of why the Bucs have had success today: the big pass play. Time after time, Josh Freeman has completed big passes to Mike Williams, Vincent Jackson and even Tiquan Underwood. Doug Martin and Legarrette Blount have finished out the game, as they ran out the clock and added a few more scores. Easy game, for the first time in over a year.

GIF: Tiquan Underwood's 62-yard Catch Sets Up Field Goal

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to hit the deep ball on a vulnerable Kansas City defense. Josh Freeman finds Tiquan Underwood this time for a 62-yard catch, as the man with the best hair in the NFL ran away from a few defenders. Underwood struggled a little to catch the ball at first, but he finally caught it - and that's what counts. Freeman's motto today is slinging it downfield and giving your receivers a chance to catch, and it's certainly worked.

That play set up a field goal, which led to a 24-10 lead for the Bucs. Meanwhile, they've already gone on another touchdown drive, this time on the back of Doug Martin, capped off by a Vincent Jackson touchdown.

GIF: Chiefs Block Punt, Return Punter Throw For TD, Cut Bucs Lead To 21-10

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers apparently signed Garo Yepremian two years ago instead of Michael Koenen. At least, that's what this certainly looks like. The Bucs were forced to punt from their 12-yard line, but the punt was blocked. What happened next came straight of NFL Follies. Koenen picked up the ball, but instead of taking the safety he ran out of the endzone.

And then he threw it straight to Edgar Jones, who ran it for a touchdown. Oops.

Koenen should have taken the safety, but conservative playcalling got the Bucs into that hole in the first place, as they looked like they wanted to run out the clock with a three-score lead. Now it's 21-10, and the Chiefs could engineer a comeback, here.

GIF: Ronde Barber's Pick Six Leads Bucs To 21-3

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear to be flying high in this game as they just took a 21-3 lead on a Ronde Barber pick six. That's Barber's eighth career interception return for a touchdown, his 12th career defensive touchdown and his 13th career touchdown overall (he has a punt block return for a touchdown, too).

Yep, old man Ronde is still going strong. This one deserves a massive assist from E.J. Biggers, though, who defenses the pass, prevents it from hitting the ground and then runs with Barber down the field to provide some key blocking for the oldest active defensive player in the NFL.

GIF: Vincent Jackson Touchdown Gives Bucs 14-3 Lead

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came out firing in the second half, and they took some four plays to go down the field and take a 14-3 lead. The highlight of that drive was a 42-yard Doug Martin catch-and-run down the field, but it was capped off by an immaculate 19-yard Vincent Jackson touchdown.

The interesting bit: the Bucs lined up Blount as a wide receiver outside Vincent Jackson. With Jackson in the slot, he was free to run his route against zone coverage from linebackers - and that made that connection way too easy. The Bucs are seemingly in control, leading 14-3.

Buccaneers Lead Chiefs 7-3 At The Half

The deep ball has been what has gotten the Bucs going this game, negating an early Josh Freeman interception. The defense held the Chiefs to just 3 points, despite giving up long drives and short pass after short pass. Mark Barron got his first career interception off Brady Quinn to stop the Chiefs' first drive, while

While the Chiefs dinked their way to a field goal, the Bucs didn't mess around and just went for deep ball after deep ball. Mike Williams has a ridiculous 103 yards and a touchdown on just three catches, and that touchdown was a beauty. Another decent drive stranded just inside field goal range, and Connor Barth lined up for a 55-yarder - and missed, for the first time in 25 attempts.

The Bucs defense has held up well so far, with Jamaal Charles, Shaun Draughn and Nate Eachus (who?) combining for 17 carries and just 31 yards. Jamaal Charles has 8 yards on 7 carries. Brady Quinn keeps completing passes, but is throwing for just 49 yards per attempt. Meanwhile, Josh Freeman has completed just 5 of 13 passes, but at 122 yards and touchdown, he's passed for 9.4 yards per attempt.

Can the Bucs hold on to their lead in the second half? Will they continue to go after that Chiefs secondary? Let's find out!

Bucs-Chiefs 7-3: Chiefs 14-play drive stopped in the red zone

The Kansas City Chiefs looked intent on scoring, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just couldn't get a stop anywhere during a long 14-play drive. The Chiefs even converted a fourth down. Yet just inside the red zone the Chiefs stranded. One tackle for loss put them in 3rd-and-6, and the blitz prevented Quinn from completing the throw.

Ryan Succop kicked the field goal to make it 7-3, and the Bucs are about to try to widen the gap.

GIF: Bucs take 7-0 lead on 62-yard Mike Williams touchdown

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just took the lead in this defensive slugfest. Freeman threw up a jump ball and Mike Williams just outfought the cornerback for the ball. That's what Mike Williams did best in 2010, and what he seemed to forget how to do in 2011. So far, though, 2010 Williams is best - and he just got the Bucs their first score in this game.

GIF: Mark Barron's First Career Interception

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers allowed the Chiefs to get all the way to the red zone before they finally stopped them. Quick slants and short runs were too much for the Bucs defense, as the Chiefs got all the way to the red zone. But then Brady Quinn threw a bad ball on a slant in coverage, and Mark Barron plucked the ball out of the air.

That's Barron's first career interception, but he's been very important for the Bucs defense this season, especially in run defense and in coverage on tight ends.

GIF: Josh Freeman interception squanders good field position

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got off to a fast start with a 3-and-out, followed by a blocked punt. But as the Bucs got to the red zone, Josh Freeman threw a terrible interception. He just didn't account for Justin Houston in coverage. The Chiefs are now dinking and dunking their way down the field - but Mark Barron just got his first career interception to stop them in the red zone!
