Things to Consider During the Bucs Head Coach Search
1) There are no glamour picks out there, boys and girls. There's no Bill Parcells to tempt and taunt our ownership this time. The biggest name in HC is Bill Cowher and he's staying put in his cushy commentator job (until the Jets or Cowboys job opens most likely). We're going to have to accept that whoever gets the Bucs' HC job is not the best-of-the-best-of-the-BEST.
2) Previous experience with Head Coaching hires is that the Big Name isn't always the best choice. Ray Perkins, anyone? Sam Wyche, fresh from coaching Cincy to a Super Bowl loss? It ended up being a respected long-time coordinator in Tony Dungy, about as unglamourous a pick as possible, who turned the ship around and made Tampa Bay playoff (and Super Bowl) contenders. This is where Jerry Gray, who HAS a few years of coordinator experience under his belt, might surprise...
3) The What-The-Hell hires never worked, did they? Leeman Bennett was a so-so HC for Atlanta and was out of coaching for a few years when Culverhouse picked him to follow McKay. Total disaster that was. Richard Williamson was the "Parcells Dumped Up" pick (the FIRST time around, fer crissakes) that was clearly a placeholder guy, sorry man. And then there was Raheem...
4) No one should consider if the coaching hire is going to bring back the ticket buyers. There has been more at work - actually a lack of work damn you unemployment figures! - with the declining attendance than just the lousy coaching. The best way to bring the ticket buyers back is LOWERING THE TICKETS PRICES MORE! AND FREE PARKING! GAAAAAH!
That said, I still hope the Glazers can mend fences with Tony Dungy and bring him back now. Hopefully everybody's matured and learned their lessons from the last time...

I agree with your post man.
We will have to hope that whomever they do hire can turn this team around like dungy did. In saying that, dungy is done with coaching and for him to return back here would take an act from god. I hope that whoever they bring in here can also lure quality coordinators and position coaches. Winning consistently is the only way to bring the fans back, which will fill the seats.

Nice sentiment
But sadly don’t see Dungy happening.
I’m kinda glad there’s no Parcells type out there, last thing the Bucs need is an over hyped coach that believes his own press.
Lets face it, we have no idea who it will be, all we can do is give him a chance and support him. Even if it’s a retread that seems like a cheap option or has had past failings – he could have learned from past mistakes – we’re still fans and we’ll still root for the team.
A left field candidate in my mind
Honestly, I think the pick should be Mike Singletary. He is a very discipline oriented coach who will bench anyone. He is the one who built the 49er team that is in the playoffs. He built that defense. His only problem was that he couldn’t pick a good offensive coordinator who could get results from their offense. Harbaugh succeeded in that respect this year, hence they now have a solid team in the playoffs. He drafts very well and will bring back the type of linebacking corp that we want in Tampa. I honestly would love to see Mike in pewter and red marching up and down our sidelines yelling and benching players like Kellen WinSLOW. He may not be the best coach towards the media, but he is exactly what we need in Tampa, if not as HC then as DC. Go bucs.

Nope
No shot. He was absolutely horrible in San Francisco. He builds teams like it’s 1985. Terrible candidate.

Really?
I don’t think he is a horrible candidate especially when people are saying lists of people that have been horrible. Mike Sherman is not a great coach, his records were skewed by quality teams. I look at what happened to Singletary just like what happened to Tony Dungy. A great defensive minded coach builds a stout defense but fails to meet expectations and is replaced with an offensive guru who makes a few tweaks and gets just enough out of the offense to win. Just take a step back and look at the team now versus what they were before Singletary took over. I still think he should be given an interview.

Mike Singletary is not a great defensive mind
There’s a reason he went back to being a LB coach instead of being a coordinator. And most of that defense was already in place when he got there. By all accounts, Singletary is a decent motivator but not a particularly sophisticated defensive schemer. And his philosophy with the 49ers was to just run it up the gut and play hard on defense. You can’t win in the modern NFL like that.
You can argue that he was a great motivator too

Rich Bisaccia????
I really like the idea. Would like to hear what other people think… Really do some research and see how well he got the most out of players, while not taking any B.S. A Hard nosed players coach.. Plus he knows this team in and out and what it’s like to win a Super Bowl.
If he is available i would like to see some more chatter about him.
Agreeeeed!
I like this idea as my good friend mentioned his name last week. His theory was to hire two proven, experienced coordinators and let Bisaccia run the show. Why not?

I said it before... and I'll say it again....
Pete Carmichael Jr. Yes I’ll admit it’s hard to make a fair judgement of the guy since Peyton does call the plays, however he’s a major part of the offense. Having Drew Brees helps him too-but he was also the QB prior and was with him at San Diego. His resume is strong and he’s at least worth a look. He’s been coaching since ‘94, and he’s served at many different postitions so the experience is there. We’ve done the defensive coach before and it has never been exciting. 9 times out of 10 the play that people talk about on Mondays are about offense. We have some young talent we need someone with the right mindset to use it. Will Carmichael be our savior? Maybe…Maybe not-but he’s just as exciting as anyone else available. Not to mention it wouldn’t hurt to handicap another team in our division.
I would prefer a proven coach or at least one with head coaching experience but no one is that good to be honest.
I hope they hire the coach with the best will and attitude.

That why i keep bring up Rich Bisaccia
His track record is there. Plus being a special teams coach. He has worked with Offense, Defense , rookies and the all 2nd string and practice squad players. While he was the special teams coach, our special teams were ranked among the best in the league. So it’s obvious he is getting the most out of the players. Harbough did it in Baltimore and if i am wrong isn’t his team the number 1 seed in the play off right now and are consistently good?
and yet another good observation +2 to you Bucket
+1) Getting the most of our players, had them at the top of ST stats w/ coverage, w/ blocking (had decent penalty ratio) and scrounged up nobodies who scored for us and name themselves a name.
2)His familiarity and good hand of working w/ 2nd stringers and PS players means he had a sense of working properly with depth.. And boy do we need THICKER depth.
whoever it is
maybe they will practice tackiling. maybe he will explain pride and effort.
we need 2 start with that, work our way up to the next step. moving the ball.
the glazers should fucking pay me 4 watching and still wearing bucs shit round town.
Its too early for that, I can't even look at my gear without upchuckin a lil
And I’ve completely refrained from looking at my leg, seeing as though a fan’s dedication to getting a team tat trumps the entire teams dedication.
