No McNulty for OC. Who do they turn to now, and who will be the Bucs' next DC? It could be Butch Davis.

Mike Sherman for one...
and can’t even talk with McNulty. Josh McDaniels is another good one spoken for.
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 1:00 PM EST up reply actions
None of the coordinators the Bucs lost out on were a fit for the kind of offense Schiano wants to run
They’re all West Coast guys. Except for McDaniels, but I don’t think he would have come over anyway given the choice between Tampa and New England.
Money talks...
so I guess you don’t know until you ask. We here should be used to rejection in that capacity anyway. Water off a ducks back…

Super Bowl rings or being the bottome of the NFC South
Let me think about this.
"Put a jersey on!!!" Warren Sapp
Money only talks so far. You want to have the pick of the litter for your next HC job or face obscurity even if you have moderate success.

The Glazers did this to themselves...
with their very public “cheap out” over the last 3 seasons. There is absolutely no telling how many top HC candidates just laughed and hung up the phone. Will take a real commitment from them to turn this PR mess around.

Does ARI have a prolific passing game?
In 2011, they ranked 17th (right behind us and Greg Olson). The year before that (2010) they ranked 31st out of 32.
Yeah, let’s hire him and his insight…

..And Boldin
and even Breaston was balling when Kurt was there..
Just goes to show that Players MIGHT be more important than staff.
isnt that the same for every coordinator
if they have a good QB they are most of the time successful
depends if they know how to use their QB or not.

I, for one, am glad McNulty is not coming here...
we can do better than that I hope. Thought Todd Haley was responsible for that awesome ARI passing game?
He was the ARI OC for 2007-2008… not McNutsweat
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 2:39 PM EST up reply actions
not impossible!
he can always appeal the rejection!
by fourthntwenty on Jan 30, 2012 3:15 PM EST up reply actions
He could, but he'd lose any appeal/arbitration case
He can try to convince the team to let him go, but that’s it.
I completely disagree. Who is off the table since we started this process that we had a chance at getting?
Give me names. Mike Sherman is garbage so don’t list that.

but he is experienced and fundamentally sound. We could, and probably will, do worse.

maybe, maybe not
Putting together a coaching staff is difficult.
You can’t hire away from other teams normally. Zero chance of getting lateral movement too.

I can see them coming in with another left field name for OC
Maybe someone like Larry Coker if the Butch Davis deal goes down.
by Poundtherok on Jan 30, 2012 2:30 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I agree completely...
this hire possibly makes or breaks the Josh Freeman experiment. The new guy will have to undo whatever damage Greg Olson may have done and put Josh back on the right path. Ditto for the QB coach.
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 12:51 PM EST up reply actions
Do we really want him
A guy who job hopes. And a guy is pretty sneaky with the way he handles things. Then again it could have been a Raider thing. But do we really wanna take that chance.
Schiano will have to make it known that...
those types of back-stabbing shenanigans won’t fly here. Present it like that and let Hue Jackson make his choice then. He need a guy that can put up some points, and Hue Jackson certainly seemed capable of that out in OAK.
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 1:05 PM EST up reply actions
In all fairness
He had Palmer , who was getting stronger by each game.. The only significant thing he did in my mind was get Heyward-Beys mind right.
Anyone talking about Cam Cameron?
I’d like him for us. I see conflicting reports saying that the Ravens have hired Jim Caldwell from under the Steelers nose, and others saying Cameron is returning to the Ravens.
I thought Jim Caldwell was going to PIT as OC
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 1:25 PM EST up reply actions
Not sure where he's heading. But I like a head coach with those "leadership" intangibles.
But I like a healthy dose of flexability and creativity in my coordinators.
by Brooklyn Buc on Jan 30, 2012 1:41 PM EST up reply actions
Why are we bugging ARI for a QB coach??
I don’t see the advantage of promoting an assistant coach into an OC.. where’s the playcalling/creation experience???
I actually like John Skelton...
probably more than I do Kolb.
by Cracker Ball on Jan 30, 2012 2:40 PM EST up reply actions
Skelton is the favorite here in AZ
Alot of people are frustrated he didn’t get more playing time. Most the Card fans I talk to can care less for Kolb.
because it's almost impossible to hire an OC away from another team where they are already a OC.

just like to say to all the people who say this draft is loaded with CB
I went back to 2003 and every year there were double sometimes triple CB drafted over RB and that is because it is risky and you can find more starting pro bowl RB from 2nd round thru 7th round than CB . Forte, RIce, McCoy, Foster, MJD, to me the best RB.
So if we have a chance to draft a talented CB with our #5 pick, we should draft Claiborne and if we cant trade out and get more picks, we dont need Richardson what we need is a 3rd down back like LMJ or any one from the late rounds.
We need 6 starters to fill on defense alone.
4 on offense.
Then a featured RB
actually its more cbs drafted than running backs because there are more of a need because you need two starters in that position.
corners and linebackers usually have the most people in the draft. and id rather chose from 10 good corners in the second rounds or less than to choose from maybe 4-5 good running backs in the second or less.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICHARDSON TRAIN!!!
FA CB's
Hopefully we will address the CB issue with free agency. We need experienced guys for a change.
we need to draft 2 and sign 2.

We have a better chance
of Dom drafting one in the 7th round and signing 2 off of practice squads before double dipping CB’s.
Ha... and the only reason he chooses them in the 7th Round
is because there is no 8th Round.
