Mike Zimmer as Coach?

This is currently my pick to be the next Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. I loved the guy when the Bengals were on Hard Knocks. Even though his wife was dying of caner i believe, he still demanded excellence from his team. He has had pretty good success over the past few years as the Bengals defensive coordinator, and he is a no BS type of coach, and brings fire to his team. What are some of your thoughts on Mike Zimmer. I know some people say we should go with an offensive minded coach, but if Zimmer can bring in a good coordinator I don't think we will have a problem. We just need a guy who is better than Olson, and I think there are some of us Madden players who could dial up a better plan of attack than that guy.

Defensive Rankings

2011 – Overall 7th, Points allowed 9th. 2010 – Overall 15th, Points allowed 24th. 2009 – Overall 4th, Points allowed 6th. 2008 – Overall 12th, Points allowed 19th.

Not the best stats ever but as you see in 2011 and 2009 his defense was top 10 in both overall yards allowed on defense and points allowed, not too shabby.

Zimmer's a very good defensive coordinator

Should get a shot as a head coach at some point, too. Only worry about the way he wants to run an offense, and who he’d be able to get as an offensive coordinator

Agreed

we cant discount what he has done with the bengals defense for sure….

True

He has been in the league a while though, and it seems like he is a well respected guy. If it was to happen, hopefully he would have plenty of contacts and pull to bring in a good O coordinator

He's a definite possibility

I’d like to see him get an interview, along with Fisher, Sherman, Chip Kelly, etc. I think the Glaziers are taking the right approach by saying that they’re not putting a time limit on the process and they’re open to different possibilities. Can’t wait for the interview process to start.

With the 5th pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select....

Chip Kelly

I actually like Chip Kelly as well, he is one of the few college coaches I would want to give a shot. I could tell you one thing, he would bring a lot of excitement to this offense, and with so many explosive Oregon players, I would bet we would get a at least one over the next few drafts.

not as HC , but definately OC.

transition to NFL game is a far cry from oregon.

I don't agree with that.

There are plenty of college HC’s that would make great NFL HC, Chip Kelly could be one of them. A good chunk of NFL coaches have some sort of college experience.

I would actually be excited if they did bring in Chip Kelly, Bob Stoops, or Les Miles, those guys are respectable coaches and I think will/would do well in the NFL. Granted they usually make the jump to coordinators, but I think these guys could go straight to HC.

I think Spurrier would have done a lot better if he hasn’t of gone to the Foreskins, and also stayed away from UF QB’s.

Raheem was the DREAM that turned into a NIGHTMARE..

How about all of them?

Tom Coughlin
Dick Vermeil
Barry Switzer
George Seifert
Jimmy Johnson
Bill Parcells
Bill Walsh
John Madden
Vince Lombardi

Pretty impressive list, and some of these guys started by coaching in high school.

You also have to realize that most if not all of the coaches that have won SB’s were players, already had their foot in the door.

Either way, college coaches can make the switch and be successful, some end up over their heads, but mostly do well.

I logged in to suggest Zimmer!

It’s odd to me that he is not receiving more attention from the Bucs…

NO Sherman and def NO Wade Phillips!!

Zimmer would be a good choice

I like zimmer he is a good defensive coach and some of the best bucs teams have had strong defenses.
So lets either hire marty or zimm and get back to playing good football
