I understand due diligence, taking your time, making the right choice, etc...
but I’m ready for this search to be over so we can start thinking about the future, just not if that means getting back in touch with Chilly lol.
Be smart - but don't take forever either
The coordinators are getting snapped up by the minute. What does everyone think about Mike Tomasula as a DC?
I believe he is the DL coach for SF right now…

Really thin resume, but he's done really well with that DL
On the timing issue, I agree with you. There is a sweet spot between taking so long you miss out on coaching staff and doing it so quickly you don’t get the right guy. I think we’re getting closer to that sweet spot and should pull the trigger sooner rather than later – unless there are guys in the playoffs they really want to talk to. REALLY want to rather than just filling things out for completeness.
Jim Tomsula
No clue what he wants to run himself, but he’s spent his pro coaching career with a 3-4 D-line.
They do need to get a move on,
but I’m glad they are interviewing a wide range of guys.

Once they have all their candidates interviewed
they need to move quickly. I’m fine with “finding the right guy” but that guy needs the opportunity to find his “right guys” as DC, instead of scrambling, hiring Jeff Jagodzinski and firing him 2 months later before the season starts.

I still would have liked to have seen what Jagz could have done...
I mean, could it really have been any worse that Greg Olson?
by Cracker Ball on Jan 17, 2012 9:44 AM EST up reply actions
I dont think the offense Jagz wanted to run was the problem
From what I recall it was his laziness and the lack of time he spent actually trying to implement it. I think Steve Logan is an elite position coach, so we at least got something out of that ordeal.

Yea we need an HC
So we can get a picture of what the staff will look like, as long as whoever we bring in doesn’t pull a Fisher we’ll be fine. I’m just wondering if they’ve made any calls to the collegiate level…

Trash pick-up was really wanting...
and did not replace empty toilet paper in a timely fashion. Bush league.
by Cracker Ball on Jan 17, 2012 10:12 AM EST up reply actions
Well Mangini would be an excellent choice
I think he handle filling the toilet paper rolls at least. Not as convinced on the trash pickup, but he has earned his chance and we should see how he does.
Check with PutupyourDUKES...
to see if he’s too old for trash duty.

Didn't know if the janitorial age group...
was somehow different to the HC age group.
So many rules…

hahahaha!
I was really wondering what everyone would say. But would you be shocked if he got an interview at this point. They have been interviewing everyone under the sun.
Reiff taken at Pick 5?
Seems WAY to early and OT is not a sexy pick either – but necessary at times. Bigger needs for sure. We can sign a RT as a F/A (I meant in theory).
Ugh…
by Cracker Ball on Jan 17, 2012 10:32 AM EST up reply actions
We need a RT but #5 is way too early for that
And even if we did go tackle, Martin is better. I don’t take a tackle at that spot unless by some miracle Kalil falls to us.
they need to hire Zimmer
He is only one that could work with this personnel on defense and have them playing decent football. But I honestly don’t think they will have a coach hired until super bowl week

Bucs are going to finish up first interviews by the weekend, and bring the finalists back for a second interview next week.
