Buccaneers - Falcons Second Half Game Thread: Blown Out Again
It's 42-7 for the Atlanta Falcons. The Bucs have set a record for the most points allowed in a season in team history. They're about to move up to 4th in the history of the NFL in giving up points in a season. The Falcons could turn this into the worst loss in team history pretty easily, too.
So yeah. Discuss this awesome game here.

I dont think so. Honestly
The D was just as bad, but at least this offense has found the endzone

I bet you a lot of teams would give up a mid first-rounder for Freeman
The Cardinals gave up a high second-rounder and DRC for Kevin Kolb
The ridiculously high premiums put on QBs you find it hard to believe a desperate teams wouldn't give up a mid-1st on a 23rd year old who had a great 2010? Okay.

I'd have to see it to believe it.
..not discrediting your comment…I just have a hard time seeing people having faith in Freeman for a 1st rounder.
So easy to forget 2010
And even this year, he’s shown plenty good things. He still has the same physical talent.
too much credit for 2010
…how sad is it when our good year is a year we didn’t make the playoffs….the standards here have dropped drastically.
keep riding the Freeman train...
…we’ll all see sooner or later. Just sad for the fans here in Tampa Bay. Going to games used to be fun….thinking we could win every game. Now…knowing we will lose every game.
Ya, we fucking love being mediocre dude.

It depends on where the team goes.
Freeman can be a good QB (maybe not great, but good). If we get the D to play better and some help, he can win here. If we try to go QB heavy and abort the defense like we did this year, then no, he wont win a lot of games. To be fair, I dont think Rodgers or Brees wouldve won a lot of games on this team.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.

We desperately need BLACKMON
We have 0 playmakers, none of offense, none on defense. I’m assuming they stick with Freeman, but he is really just set up for failure unless we get some playmakers on offense. We have by far the worst receiving corps if you include WRs, TEs, and RBs.
Not even close. Jacksonville is way worse
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
I'd take him and never look back. We need playmakers and he is fantastic.
The NFC South is a division of playmakers. We don’t have any.
I think you are really underselling him
You could make the argument he isn’t worth a top 5 pick, and for most teams he wouldn’t be, but the fact is we really have 0 playmakers on offense while most quality teams have 3-4, excluding the 49ers who are just loaded on defense.
by J_B on Jan 1, 2012 6:14 PM EST up reply actions
Biggest problem on offense is a lack of speed
Blackmon can’t fix that. I think he’s a very good player, but just not worth the pick the Bucs would have.
We can bring in speed through FA
Just because he doesn’t run a 4.2 doesn’t mean he couldn’t be a massive upgrade.
Speed is such a deceiving stat by itself
The raiders have been drafting the quickest WRs on the board for the years now, and their WR corp is still pretty poor.
Wes Welker is by no means a burner, but he’s a top 5 WR right now. Speed, by itself, is a really poor means of judging a player.
by J_B on Jan 1, 2012 6:18 PM EST up reply actions
agreed. we don't need anymore possession WRs
We need a playmaker, but that’s no proirity one.
we need help at LB 1st. then CB
No, really
He isn’t. He’s good, but he’s not game changing. WRs don’t go in the first 5 unless they’re projected to be superstars.
Nine straight losses and counting- time to go, Raheem.
I'd take Kendall Hunter in the 2nd-3rd, we need a deep threat.

I seriously can't defend Rah on the past month

Let another team overpay for Mack after that play.
Not us thanks
Mack will get a tiny deal for the Bucs
And he’ll get to play slot cornerback. He’s done a decent job there this season.
Between him or Biggers as a nickleback it don't matter
either way we need another starting corner next yr.
They should really just fire everyone tonight.
This is so far beyond the typical ‘underachieving team’ that results in the firing of the coaching staff This is a disgrace. This is absolutely inexcusable from a professional football team. Firing everyone tonight would at least send a message, and at the very worst they could start tomorrow anew and leave this mess behind. Instead it’ll just drag on for another day.
I liked how Washington fired their entire
defensive coaching staff after that display against Baylor the other night….Er’body….get the F out!

Hes been lost in the sauce.
If you cant find him thats a problem. He should be making plays. He cant get off the block and he is scared to hit the gap because hes afraid to get caught up in the trenches.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICAHRDSON TRAIN!!!
We need play like that the whole season.
not just for a few games and at the most critical part of the defense
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICAHRDSON TRAIN!!!
MLB is not the most critical part of a defense
But he’s shown he can do it. I don’t get how you can just ignore that.
Foster is not that slow that he cant play on the outside.
And the MLB is the most critical part. If he is the “qb” of the defense and making the play calls and should be the big playmaker conistently. Hes shown flashes but he has regressed alot sinced the start of the season.
ALL ABOARD THE TRENT RICAHRDSON TRAIN!!!
Being the playcaller has little to do with being a playmaker

I actually feel bad for Raheem
He was absolutely set up to fail. Assistant coach with no coordinating experience thrown into the head coaching role, with no DC and a hack for an OC, and an incredibly young team that is almost entirely devoid of talent. As poorly has Freeman played, his numbers don’t look as bad as his play has looked which is saying something. Josh McDaniels is out there as St. Louis is cleaning house, he would be my 1st choice as an OC to turn around Freeman’s mechanics.

1,000 per day
Didn’t hit that, though. It’s broken down into hourly intervals or something. Dunno the number.
and foster once again...
he pauses and waits for three seconds and either gets blocked or is chasing the runner down the field.

on the thought of who the next coach is going to be
i dont think ‘big name’ coach is going to want to come here after watching this team play the last couple of weeks. why come to a team where for weeks they knew their coaches job (a coach they claim to love) was on the line and they get blown out? why risk your career on a bunch of guys who give up and arent even being competitive? if we do get a big name guy its going to be one who wants to be GM too; b/c i think they will want to blow this team up.
and what free agents are going to want to come here? we arent on the brink of being a champ team; so the only FA’s that are going to want to come here are ones who just want to get paid. i dont think those are the kind of veterans you want around this young team. i know its a long rant but im trying to pull myself away from the abyss.

That's true, but that kind of monkey see monkey do behavior can lead to suspensions.
We don’t need Penn to miss a game next year.

Freeman is easily my most disappointing player of the 2011 season
not just on the Bucs but in the league.
Some great finishes coming.
Oakland has a chance to take division, Cincy can win to get in, Browns still in it.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
I am gonna have a lot of opposition...I expect it...
…but this team needs an overhaul. Forget drafting position or offense or defense…or whatever… We need to draft guys who want to WIN and are willing to put in the time and effort it takes to win. Not thugs or big time party guys…. we need people who will change the whole demeanor of our organization. Over haul. Ok, flame below.
That's a lot of implied assumptions and generalizations about how much work people put in

Lynch sounds like a serious Buc homer
He is right with some stuff he says but he is sounding like a fan than a objective anaylist listening to him.
but more importantly, he's dead on.
he accurately nailed the teams biggest strength and weaknesses.
homer or not, the man speaks the truth.
